Smaugust 2022, my first ever Smaugust is finished and what a ride it’s been!!!
Plenty of ideas I was hoping would shape up better and also a lot of expected disasters that turned out way better than expected. A much better appreciation for brushes gained and a weakness with portraying colour exposed.
Tl:dr After a lot of time thinking, I want to learn animate my own stories rather than using other people’s. Also, still alive and doing well!! Art and animation stuffs to come. For everyone not hyped or interested about this new direction, no hard feelings, I’m glad you enjoyed my stuff and I wish you well^^
I liiiiivvvveeeeeee!!!!!! Hey all!!! So here’s the update- covid hit hard and that wiped out what remaining motivation for editing I had but truth be told the excitement and ideas had been dying down for a long while and I think I’ve finally figured out why. I want to move more towards telling stories etc stuff like my shapeshifters series but that’s just really limited with only editing as my tool. And I realised it’s always gonna be hard and not all that fun to tell a story using other peoples’s stories. Didn’t feel all that right either.
Still I’ve been taking the time over covid and stuff to work on art and doodles, drawing my favourite characters and turning them into dragons and that’s really been a blast but I feel like drawing, like editing, is starting to reach the point where that’s taken me as far as I want to go with it. I’ll probably still doodle but I’m really itching to sink my teeth into my next big thing and I think I’m finally ready for the big boy.
Animation.
So this channel is likely to become a progression archive of models, animations, practice, skits, speed paints, speed modelling, animation timelapses, just anything and everything I’m working on eventually hopefully working up to my own amvs with my own characters and their stories to tell. I’ve been working on this big Tolkien-esque universe for a long time now and I can’t wait to finally bring it to life. There’ll be phoenixes, griffins, wolves and, of course, Dragons- I’m so hyped to finally get round to this, and I can’t wait to share the entire thing with you all!!! (Hints and designs of a few future characters below!!!)
First though, it’s Smaugust and I thought I’d finally bring you guys into the loop on the drawing and stuff I’ve been doing over the past few years so for the next few weeks prepare to be overrun with dragon drawing shorts.
Finally a last note for anyone who stuck around reading this long who was in it for the Disney or doesn’t really wanna stick around for this next bit- totally fine, I’m just glad you’ve joined joined me for any stretch of this journey and beyond happy to have hopefully made you smile. All the best to you all and I wish you luck wherever you go next.
And to those who are still reading and DO want to stick around for this next bit I really really cannot thank you enough- fun as it is to just yell and post stuff into a void your existence and watching and enjoyment of what I do really gives it so much extra meaning so from the bottom of my heart and soul you have my gratitude. And I really cannot wait to show and share this with you all. Hope you grow to love all these new little buddies half as much as I already adore them to bits.
So, whether you've noticed or not, a number of my videos have seemingly disappeared from my channel. I'm posting this to explain why.
For anyone who doesn't know, something called COPPA has been sweeping Youtube, which means that come 2020 all videos must be marked as "for kids" or "not for kids".
For me, this means that a lot of my content can be accidentally mislabelled (a video that has cartoon violence could be "for kids" since its a cartoon but also "not for kids" since there's violence). This does mean I've had to take an action that breaks my heart.
Any video in this grey area where I'm not sure how to categorise, I've had to remove from public viewing and instead make them unlisted.
So many of my favourite videos, videos that I am so proud of, that I love, that I put my heart and soul into and that genuinely hurt to remove are no longer viewable.
If a particular video that you love is no longer available, I can send you a link to view it, but it will be completely inaccessible and invisible without this link.
I'm so sorry its had to come to this,but I can't risk the $42,000 fine that comes with mislabelling a video.
UPDATE!!!: I've had to reupload the Christmas Requests video and I've slighly changed the time of the premiere so take note: the new premiere for the Christmas Requests is 11pm GMT Christmas Eve^^ Hope to see some of you there!! Merry Christmas!!!
