Deforestation refers to the large-scale clearing or removal of forests by humans. Common causes include the expansion of agricultural land, logging for timber and pulp, urbanisation and infrastructure development, as well as the extraction of mineral and energy resources. As land is converted into farmland, pastures, industrial zones, or transportation facilities, forest coverage gradually decreases, leading to multiple environmental and social impacts.
