It has been ages since my last video here. Been busy making videos on the main Black Bear Forge channel. I had planned to shift the woodworking over there, but I have so many video ides for the blacksmith shop that there doesn't seem to be room for the woodworking stuff. I'm also not getting the personal vlog stuff done here as I had hoped. So I'm moving back to the earlier plan of posting woodworking and home improvement videos here, keeping ‪@BlackBearForge‬ dedicated to blacksmithing topics and if there is the occasional vlog or travel video it can still live here along side the shop stuff. Starting a dedicated channel for the woodworking just sounds like too much work. With that said I have several videos in the works for this channel, see you soon.
So far I have been enjoying the shift towards more woodworking and home improvement videos here on the John Switzer channel. Currently I am working on a screen door and dealing with trimming the opening in a log wall. This will probably be two videos in the next few weeks. In the mean time, enjoy the most recent video on the cordless drill cabinet.
Welcome to a new version of the YouTube community. Here you should be able to start your own conversation with me as well as with other viewers. No need to wait for me to kick things off. Not sure exactly how this will work until we try it out.
Remember to keep things respectful and appropriate for broad audience.
This weekends video, discussing my plans for the upcoming year will be available first thing Saturday morning. Channel members have early access to that video this morning and Patreon patrons have early access as well as and ad free version of the video on Patreon.
I hope everyone is having a merry Christmas and a happy Holiday. As I look forward to the new year and more woodworking content, I thought you might enjoy this earlier video on building our upper kitchen cabinet.
As we look forward to the new year, I have big plans for all those forgotten projects around our place. With that in mind I see a shift in the content here on the John Switzer YouTube channel. That means much more woodworking and home improvement type videos and less of the vlog style videos. I see this as an exciting new approach that should bring new enthusiasm not only to the work that needs to be done but also to the videos featuring lots of interesting projects.
I have recently been asked to partner with a new video platform, Zarta. They are brand new and just getting started. Zarta has a unique no ads and no subscriptions model that relies instead on micro transactions to fund the platform and pay creators. I have my next vlog uploaded a few days early for anyone that wants to check it out. But don't worry it will still be available right here come Monday Morning. zarta.com/bbfsm1

The trim on the shop door is finally completed. I had to wait for the ice to melt so I could put up a ladder.

I have been working on a new side door for the blacksmith shop. Hopefully it will be completed with a full build video in the next few weeks.
