Is it painful?
_yes it is but it depends on your pain tolerance for me it's tolerable.
Will you get infected?
It depends on how you take care until it will heal. As long as you are not diabetic, no sea water , no soaking in the water then it will heal better.
Will you get tetanu?
_ No! They used lemon thorn as thier needle and pine suit ash mix with water and that's it it's all organic.
Are they changing thier lemon thorn (needles)?
_ Yes! They changed every person. In the village you can buy stick with thorn that they will used for you.
Can she still do designs?
_ yes! Depends on her mood or people she want to give design but expect that it will be not perfect lines because she is 104 years old.
No perfect traditional tattoo but I'm happy and its ok for me because that's the beauty of it...but sure she does her 3 dots signature.

_Apo Whang-Od is old she's 104 yrs old and a lot of people is waiting for thier turn to ger inked by her and she get tired too. Just remind her to change the thorn or hand her you new stick to use😊❤️
Is Buscalan Village is open now for tourists?
_ Yes! Check thier page and findout the requirements. ( or DM me😊)
_visit the village experience, immerse with the locals know about thier culture and traditions and you will learn something.
Then you will be happy with a pride that it's worth it to have a Traditional Tattoo 😊❤️

Many people and most friends asked why I have many tattoo. They are saying I destroyed my beautiful skin, some also appreciate it. I do respect your all opinion and I just need also a respect of my own choice.
I am proud Igorota from Benguet Kankana-ey Tribe and I am so lucky to have this beautiful hand tapped or traditional tattoo in my body.
Having this full sleeves tattoo empowers me and became who I am today.😊❤️

This is Apo Whang-Od first timei met her back in 2018 and she gave me tattoo instantly. She is 104 years old and she is the last and oldest traditional tattooist (mambabatok) She has been tattooing headhunters and women of the indigenous people of Butbut in Buscalan, Kalinga, since she was 15 years old, but the Butbut warriors who used to earn tattoos by protecting villages or killing enemies no longer exist. Despite this, Whang-od continues to practice her traditional art form on tourists visiting Buscalan.

In this photo she is checking my tattoo that tattooed one of the young talented traditional tattoo artist Ammin (jasmine) from loccong in their tribe.
She was happy to see the beautiful work of ammin in my arms and mentoring/suggesting us some beautiful design.

Whang-Od is a happy woman that always invite us for a cup of coffee☕😊

"Madaymen" is a coldest place here in Cordillera and i think in the whole Philippines 🇵🇭they called it Little Alaska because it's frosting in winter. Best time for frosting is from December' to March temperature drop to 5 degree.
Some called "Strawberry Land" where our strawberries comes from... It's also famous for succulents and some flowers.
This is my friend Jeremy and Henadel it's their first time to visit and experience Madaymen.
First time to harvest strawberries and had so much fun and learn more about vegetables, strawberries and meet farmers😊
