The purple/blue colour to the toothpaste in this image is the dye from plaque disclosing tablets.
It is used to help show areas of the teeth covered in the colourless bacteria, that left untouched can be harmful to the teeth and gums.
Disclosing agents are great for brushing up on your technique, excuse the pun.
They are particularly useful and engaging for children, but even I use them from time to time to ensure my technique is as good as it can be.
