If you are dealing in Indian Real Estate or Agriculture, you know that land measurements change drastically across state borders. An Acre is standard, but a Bigha depends entirely on where you stand.
Here is the simplified breakdown:
Punjab and Haryana: 1 Acre = 4 Pucca Bigha (Also called 1 Killa)
UP (Central and East) and Bihar: 1 Acre = 1.6 Pucca Bigha
Western UP and Western Rajasthan: 1 Acre = 4.8 Kuchha Bigha
Madhya Pradesh and Bundelkhand: 1 Acre = 3.63 Bigha
Gujarat: 1 Acre = 2.5 Bigha
West Bengal: 1 Acre = 3.025 Bigha
Maharashtra: Bigha is not used officially. It is exactly 40 Guntha.
