Running approximately 90 minutes, this feature-length documentary will take you back to the very first match held in Portland in 1883, discuss promoter Herb Owen's founding of Portland Wrestling in 1925, brothers Don & Elton Owen taking over the family business upon their father's passing, and highlight many PacificNorthwest stats, from Gorgeous George to Roddy Piper.

Happy Heavenly Birthday to UK wrestling legend "Exotic" Adrian Street, who would have turned 84 today had he not passed away last year. Adrian was a wrestler who fully understood how to make the people notice him!

WHY I'M BURNING MY CHANNEL DOWN... Originally, I began this channel as a central location to archive footage from Don Owen's legendary Portland Wrestling promotion alongside the weekly indy wrestling television shows I produced in the Portland area between 2004 and 2014. With 4,000 videos now uploaded, my goal as an archivist and historian has been completed. Namely, the legacy of Portland Wrestling has been restored online, both here on this channel and on the Portland Wrestling Facebook page, where we share daily photos and facts about the history of Pacific Northwest wrestling. Along the way, I've also been able to preserve additional memories by producing and co-hosting the Hart Beat Radio podcast with Stampede Wrestling icon Bruce Hart.
With my objective achieved, I have taken up hunting down additional wrestling footage from the Pacific Coast. Those of you paying attention have no doubt noticed the abundant amount of 1970s & 80s shows from 50th State & Polynesian Pacific Pro Wrestling in Hawaii and the NWA Hollywood promotion that I've recently added to the channel. Revisiting these "lost" promotions has been extremely rewarding for me personally. "Gentleman" Ed Francis, "Judo" Gene LeBell, "Professor" Roy Shire, New Zealand legend Steve Rickard, and many other promoters on both sides of the Pacific Ocean deserve recognition for their decades of service to the sport of professional wrestling, which this channel intends to focus on going forward. Beginning tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day, Testosterone Overload will burn down... but like a mighty phoenix, it will rise from the ashes to honor the legacies of the Canadian, American, Polynesian, Kiwi, and Aussie athletes who competed on the Ring of Fire.
In addition, this past Easter, I obtained the rights to Portland Wrestling, the most important wrestling promotion to ever run in the Pacific Northwest. 2025 marks the 100th Anniversary of the promotion, which I intend to revive for all of the local fans in Washington and Oregon who long for the return of real pro wrestling like they remember it from their childhood. This includes launching a new weekly television show, which will also be made available for all you beautiful people in WebTown right here on the Ring of Fire.
As a special treat for old school wrestling fans, I will be uploading classic matches and interviews highlighting legends of the Pacific Coast every single day between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. Join me on this whirlwind journey highlighting the heroes and heels of San Francisco, Los Angeles, Hawaii, British Columbia, New Zealand, Australia, and Japan, who have been overlooked by WWE for far too long due to the lack of video archives available for TKO to purchase.
Blessing to you all, and I'll see you on the Ring of Fire...

After nearly twenty years of working to digitize and archive as much Portland Wrestling footage as I have been able to locate, this channel reached 25,000 subscribers! I am grateful to each and every one of you wrestling fans who have joined us native Pacific Northwesterners on this journey to show the world that Portland Wrestling was just as vital to the history of professional wrestling and WWE as Stampede Wrestling, World Class, the AWA, and Jim Crockett Promotions. Many thanks to the local fans and wrestlers alike who contributed their own video tapes to this immense archive, and to the promoters who I worked with to produce nearly 500 weekly episodes of local wrestling, whereby preserving the work of the indy wrestlers who carried the grappling torch through a dark age that lasted thirty years. Lastly, thanks to Dutch Savage for setting me on the path to understanding what wrestling is meant to be and to Bruce Hart & Bob Johnson for the opportunity to work at their sides preserving the memories of countless wrestlers who kept the territories thriving and the true history of Stampede Wrestling through our Hart Beat Radio podcast. It is time for a new chapter to unfold on this channel.

Friday, July 10th, 1953: Seventy years ago today, Don Owen's promotion made their television debut in the Portland area as Heidelberg Wrestling on KPTV at 8:30pm, named after the territory's main sponsor, Heidelberg Brewing in Tacoma, Washington. Don and his brother Elton had only just taken over the territory in 1951, when their father Herb passed away, and had joined the National Wrestling Alliance in 1952.
After some sleuthing, I've even discovered the matches held that night at the Armory for Pacific Northwest wrestling's television debut! Jack O'Reilly defeated George Drake two falls to one, Erik Pedersen and Jack Kiser went to a thirty minute draw in the third fall of their bout, and John Paul Henning battled the Masked Marvel to a thirty minute draw after winning one fall each.
During that time period, Frank Stojak was the Pacific Coast Junior Heavyweight Champion (about to become the World Champ a month later), Jack Kiser was the Pacific Coast Light Heavyweight Champion, and either the team of Harold Sakata & Glenn Detton or the duo of Jack O'Reilly & Red Vagnone were Pacific Northwest Tag Team Champions (likely the former of the two teams, but records are still sketchy).
Heidelberg Wrestling would soon become Portland Wrestling and go on to have a thirty eight year run on local television before losing their timeslot and going off the air forevermore on Dec. 28th, 1991. During its time, the television show was hosted by local radio personalities Gordon White, Ivan Smith, Bob McAnulty, and Barney Keep before settling on Frank Bonnema, who would host the show until his passing in the early 1980s.
FUN FACT: The same night as their television debut, Elton Owen was promoting a second card in Coos Bay, Oregon, which featured Glenn Detton and Juan Hernandez going to a time limit draw and Mr. Sakata locking horns with Tony Ross in a bout with unknown results.
