I’d like to respectfully share my experience and seek clarification.
The video in question is entirely my own—this is my face and original footage. The background music used, Jingle Bell Rock, was selected directly from the YouTube Shorts music catalogue through the “Add Sound” feature in the YouTube app. The track was provided under Sing King Karaoke / S71 NA Sounds, which appeared to be available for use.
Because the music was offered within YouTube’s own music library, I believed it was approved for Shorts usage. I fully support respecting proprietary and copyrighted content, but I’m struggling to understand why this video was blocked when the sound was selected from an in-app library that is presented as usable for creators.
As a small creator trying to grow and do things the right way, situations like this can be discouraging. I’m simply hoping for clarity and consistency around music usage so creators can confidently follow the rules without unintentionally violating them.
