The Art Gear Guide

The Art Gear Guide is my YouTube channel dedicated to reviewing art supplies and in particular coloured pencils, markers, watercolour pencils, pastels, paper and much more, The aim of The Art Gear Guide is to help people decide if a particular art supply is what they need, before spending a lot of money on a product they may not need.

All products reviewed on the channel can be found and purchased on my Amazon Influencer Page www.amazon.co.uk/shop/theartgearguide I have gathered every product I have reviewed and added them on this page where you can browse without seeing other products you may not be after. All products are categorised in easy sections for your ease of use.

bit.ly/3z2Vlr9 I have just uploaded the first video in a four part Beginners Guide To Colored Pencils over on The Art Gear Guide Patreon Channel. Many people have asked me if I would put together a beginners guide course sharing with them almost ten years of test, demonstrating and reviewing, paper, colored pencils and accessories from all over the world; from the cheapest to the most expensive to the least lightfast to the most lightfast.

Throughout this beginners guide course I hope to dispel a lot of myths surrounding the world of colored pencils and make the entire venture much more enjoyable and welcoming, throwing aside the myth that you must use only the most lightfast and expensive supplies etc, making art fun and enjoyable.

PART 1 - We will talk about paper and how selecting the right paper can make the most mundane colored pencils exciting and vibrant.

PART 2 - I will share with you ten years experience of testing and reviewing colored pencils from all over the world and breaking down pencils into categories allowing you to select the pencil that will be suit your needs

PART 3 - Here I will talk about accessories you should have from the beginning to help make your journey that little bit more easy, explaining what each accessory can help you with, information I wish I knew when I first got started.

PART 4 - The final part will be a very simple colored pencil tutorial, here we will recreate a simple botanical piece and learn the basic fundamentals such as value, your light and shadow helping you to create form and making your piece pop from the page. You don't need to draw detailed and complex pieces to awe viewers, you can get the same reaction from a simple piece drawn with these basic fundamentals in mind.

You will also of course gain access to all the tutorials currently available on The Art Gear Guide Patreon Channel. Simply follow the like to my Patreon Channel and from there select the Tier you would like to subscribe to. As always thank you all so much for your amazing help and support and because of your support I will be able to bring even more your way.

The Art Gear Guide

amzn.to/3xJddXn This is the cheapest set of Derwent Chromaflow 150 I can find at £150 from Amazon. These sets are going fast and as a result delivery times might be a bit longer but still cheaper than the £240 plus prices I’ve seen about. Also, in my 10 years of reviewing art supplies, when a product is relatively inexpensive and lots of people purchase the product, not long later the price increases. If you would like this 150 set and you can manage the cost, get it soon before the price increases.

amzn.to/43XqS9y or you could try the 100 set for £129 if you perhaps don’t need 150 colors and are happy with the 100.

The Art Gear Guide

I have just removed a video that I uploaded a few hours ago. In that video I asked people to politely and respectfully reply to one and other which happened for the most part. However, under no circumstances was I going to have my own words twisted, not at all. I will continue with the review of the product in question, if anyone leaves a comment under the review about Russia or Ukraine I will simply remove it, something I have never done while running this channel, but I tried to provide a place where that subject in relation to art supplies could be discussed. In the past no matter how offensive a comment has been toward me and what I do because I believe wholeheartedly in free speech. But as I say, I am not having the words I spoke, being twisted to fit anyones ideas. I was very careful about what I said, made the video 4 times and rewatched it many times to make sure I wasn’t being offensive or disrespectful. I’m taking a break from YouTube but when I return I will be doing so with the product review I mentioned. Thank you all for your support over the years, I can’t tell you how much it has meant to me and I look forward to returning. All the content will remain public on YouTube and the same applies to @TheArtGearGuide Website. Thank you all so much.

bit.ly/2VCTmCB Check out this video of the Art Gear Guide comparing the Caran d'Ache Pablo Colored Pencils against the Faber Castell Polychromos Colored Pencils. Both pencils are popular among Colored Pencil Artists, Crafters, Adult Colouring Book Artists and Colored Pencil Enthusiasts. If you click the link it will take you directly to the comparison video but from there you will find links to the artwork completed using both pencils as well as the written review I completed. #Carandache #Fabercastell #PabloColoredPencils #PolychromosColoredPencils #ColoredPencils #ColouredPencils

I have followed ‪@efsanepiranova‬ over on Instagram for about 6 months now I think, this lady’s #watercolourpaintings are so beautiful and now #Efsane has started to upload some longer videos of her work here on YouTube. I will never in a million years understand how YouTube works, there are channels with hundreds of thousands of followers and their content “in my opinion” is a minute or two long of pencil spinning, brush flicking, camera twirling rollercoaster ride with a glimpse of art toward the end, which is absolutely fine but then you see channel like Efsane with amazing content and not nearly enough subscribers in my opinion. I know the entire thing is subjective but it really does baffle me at times. Check out this channel and if you like please subscribe to her and help boost the channel. Thank you all so much.
