Special thanks to our Labour community on the occasion of Labour day . I faced a similar situation while working in a field job with our technicians and riggers , Rigger is one of the tough jobs with a lot of life risk & safety issues .I was also a part of the field team during the 2016-2022 tenure. There is no comfort zone in the field but I appreciate that still people are working hard 24/7 to feed their families.

OptiX OSN 1500 main Cards:

EFSO
CLX16 card (with 1 SFP module)
SMR
ETFB card (Ethernet service card)
D12S
PIU (Power Input Unit)

1. EFSO Card

Type: SDH Service Card
Function:
Provides STM-1 optical interfaces

Used for SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) transmission

Handles optical signal input/output

🔹 2. CLX16 Card (with 1 SFP module)
Type: Cross-Connect/Service Interface Card
Function:
Provides electrical cross-connect functions

The version with SFP allows for optical service interface

Can aggregate multiple E1/low-speed services and send them via an SFP-based STM link
.3. SMR Card
Full Form: Switch Mode Rectifier
Type: Power Module
Function:
Converts AC or DC input power into stable DC output power (usually -48V DC)

Supplies power to the system's internal components

Works in combination with the PIU (Power Input Unit)

4. ETFB Card
Type: Ethernet Service Card
Function:
Provides Fast Ethernet (FE) and Gigabit Ethernet (GE) interfaces

Used for packet-based services like IP/MPLS

Supports bridging Ethernet traffic into SDH or packet domains

🔹 5. D12S Card
Type: SDH Service Aggregation Card
Function:
Offers 12-port E1 electrical interfaces

Used to carry multiple E1 signals into the SDH system

Converts and maps low-speed signals to higher-speed SDH paths

🔹 6. PIU Card (Power Input Unit)
Type: Power Supply Card
Function:
Accepts external DC power input (commonly -48V)

Distributes regulated power to all boards in the OSN 1500

A critical part of system powering and protection

It's not easy to do a field job in Saudia Arabia especially in night time , You must have a strong heart. At sites first check the snakes around ,wear tight clothes & leather shoes . Keep stick or rode in your hand & then proceed for troubleshooting..😄

Difference between single mode & multimode ?

One major difference|| Single mode is used for long-haul transmission & multimode is used for short distance metro Network. In our radio remote unit & Base band unit mostly we used single mode SFP.

Q: Why we used blue tip fiber connector over green tip?

Blue tip fiber connectors are commonly used in fiber optic communication systems, specifically for Single-Mode Fiber (SMF) connections. The blue color of the connector tip typically indicates that it is designed for use with single-mode fiber, which has a smaller core diameter ,But green tip connector give more loss over blue tip that is why blue tip connector is always preferred .
