Thanks for 500 subs! I was trying to plan something to cook together for a special but I think what I have planned could work better as a 1000 sub special... so I'll reserve that idea for then. I do wanna talk about reaching 500 subs, though.
I talked about getting to I think it was 100 or 200 subs and in that post I made, I talked about how I wasn't proud or felt like I deserved reaching that point - all I did was post a couple videos that were popular that didn't take much mork to make that mostly contributed to my sub count at the time. However, now I feel like I earned 500 subs, mostly because I have been doing LFS and other wacky things. So I feel more proud this time around. Thank you Tech Over Tea fans for the support, by the way! It was fun being on there.
Last thing is I now get comments asking "please share your ISO," to which I am refraining from sharing because there's no point in doing so, really. To get a look similar to mine, just use DWM w/ the gaps patch and the bar turned off, ST w/ the opacity and scroll related patches, Pijulius' fork of Picom, Rofi, and of course Feh. If you wanna do LFS without the work, use ALFS. Plus my build is meant for me so there'd only be issues and too much work needed just for something you could easily replicate.
I haven't had a job and I'm wondering what I should do. I need to make enough money to live, ie. pay rent, food, that type of stuff. Something around $850 USD a month. I don't know if I could achieve this through Ko-Fi or Patreon. On Youtube, I'd need to grind videos out like no tomorrow. I'm also willing to edit for anyone. If anyone wants some work done or has any ideas, please send a comment!!!
This is going to be a long post and I typically don't make posts like this and who knows, maybe won't make another one like this.
I am unsure with many things. As some of you may know, I work at Home Depot, as a cashier. Perhaps I'm different or don't have the mind that others do, but I feel like I was led to believe that working there would be fun and made me feel secure and safe. That is not what I feel. The schedule and lack of cashiers led me to be in agony several times and will continue to be that way, whilst having to deal with higher ups, head cashiers, and cashier supervisors to get on everyone's rears about asking for credit cards and it's clear the customers are fed up with it and so am I. Not only that but there are so many little things that lead to high scrutiny being a cashier.
What about switching to another position? Problem, I would have to request that to the cashier supervisor, and I would essentially get denied because I'm needed. So my two options: continue in agony or quit.
I am leaning on the side of quitting.
That's why I am making this post. I am unsure because I don't know what income I want to receive from and what job I want to do. I just know that YouTube is an option in some way, like Patreon and/or Ko-Fi. There are many issues with that but I want to know what you all think. Another job is another IRL job, doing IT work. I personally don't know where there are IT jobs that aren't Best Buy in my area, but I'm still considering it.
Basically, I just want input. I'm sort of lost, confused, hit a brick wall, and realized I'm essentially being treated like a fleshlight after being led to believe that it would be different. Take care ya'll.
The HTML thing (for now I suppose unless what I'm gonna talk about falls through) is going to be no longer worked on as I have a far better plan and is the works. The downside is this approach will take longer but will be more professional and even a little more official and cleaner. I would say to not expect the tutorial to be coming in the next few months at least unless I'm overestimating the time required for this method. I'm being silent about said method as I want it to be a surprise, so stay tuned...
I'm actually working on the LFS Steam + Wine video now! Just not editing the video or even recording (yet). What I'm doing is writing some HMTL5 so that anyone, not just viewers, can go to the document, read it very easily, copy and paste the commands from it, and so forth. It would be a much better medium than me making a video and flashing text at the screen and watchers can't even copy the code from it, they can only type everything they see. Is the video still happening? Yup! If anything, the streams will no longer be footage but rather sources I can watch back from to write my HTML5 document, then the end result will be a video going over the document and maybe some footage of me screwing around in the terminal depending on how autistic I wanna be. For now, I'm just writing the document first and also thinking of where I should host the document. If anyone has any suggestions, please shoot me a comment or something. Sorry about the long wait by the way.
I haven't started work on the LFS Steam + Wine video(s) yet. I haven't been in the mood to edit everything. Aince it's such a big behemoth of a task, I'll probably pressure myself into doing it which is motivation I guess ^^;
Hopefully soon you all will see that stuff! My dream has always been to help and teach people so hopefully this will do just that.
So you know that nifty tool located in /usr/bin that is called "rm"? Yeah? And you know my LFS system I just built? Still yeah? Umm... Yeah. Note: Not everything was deleted, but enough stuff that my system won't work properly, most of my user's stuff was deleted except the Steam directory, and /sources (which contain some source code I still need) are saved. I recovered them.
I'll follow the same process as detailed in my last LFS livestream series but I won't stream this time. I just want to do it and be done with it.
After that, I'll work on one or two videos detailing the whole series in a shorter form, like 30 mins to an hour, depending on how long is necessary. Then, something I really want to do is to create my own video editor as I don't like the bloat of Kdenlive, Shotcut doesn't work anymore for me, and no software even gets close to Sony Vegas (which if it was for Linux, I still would use it). I might stream it, may not. That depends.
So over the course of about a month, I've had a few number of peeps ask for my discord (which is @zeckma / zeckma#0000). In the past, I had a discord server which I deleted due to lack of activity and me not wanting to maintain it. However, now I'm thinking... Should I make another? Let me know what ya'll think!
