A new PostgresFM episode is out: Postgres tips for beginners. And as an experiment, we now have edited (chatgpt+manual) English subtitles – their quality allows you to use YouTube's subtitle auto-translation and enjoy the material in your native language; try it and share it with people interested in Postgres! https://youtu.be/vXPUu01iTlU
Good news, everyone: Tom Lane has committed our "2nd argument for \watch" patch today 💥 – for the very first time in the history of our "Postgres Hacking 101" sessions with Andrey and Kirk.
Last and this week were crazy, forcing us to skip the sessions, but we will likely return next week.
No "Hacking" or other streams today again; apologies – difficulties due to unplanned work that has to be done asap. Have a good rest of the week, and don't forget to check yesterday's session with ChatGPT + the new PostgresFM podcast episode tomorrow!
No "Hacking" or other streams today – let's meet next week. But we have a good news, the very first change in Postgres source code that was developed by Andrey right here on Postgres.tv has been just committed: gitlab.com/postgres/postgres/-/commit/6f9ee74d45aa… (you haven't watched it, check it out).
No, it's not our extension for psql's \watch, it's just a bunch of fixes, but it's already something, right? Let's hope we'll see more work approved and committed soon! And share your ideas and feedback, it's always important.
Oh, and our channel just has reached 1900 subscribers – thanks all! Please share the links so our small community keeps growing and reaches 2k soon ;-)
When you insert something and see "INSERT 0 123", it's boring, and we'd like to have more – so Andrey started to work on this idea (originally Kirk's) today. The first attempt to implement it FAILED 😆 🙈 – but we won't give up. This video is still fun to watch if you're interested in observing behind-the-scene Postgres hacking
