My Goffin's cockatoo, Boo, has been with me through my adult life. As a teen, I saved up money and brought him home as a baby bird in early 2000.
In September 2011, I adopted Arthur, another Goffin's with a history of biting and screaming. However, in January 2021, I found him an amazing new home.
Misha, a Moluccan cockatoo, joined our flock in May 2015 when he was about six years old.
Before the pandemic, Boo and I attended almost weekly bird parties with our friends, including a black palm cockatoo, hyacinth macaws, conures, cockatiels, and other pet birds.
In 2022, Boo miraculously recovered from a severe lung infection after nearly six months of intensive treatment.
I've also fostered Baby, a sulfur-crested cockatoo, and Feather, a bronze-winged pionus.
Most clips are candid iPhone recordings with minimal editing. I aim to share new adorable bird videos a few times a week. Enjoy!

Sara got her yearly exam, a toenail and wing trim, and a deslorean (hormone) implant… and handled it all like a champ! The dramatic boys should take a page from her chill book. She has been nonstop wanting sexy time 100% of the time, and we didn’t want her to lay more eggs. 🎨💕 A moment from this past Saturday that I can't believe I didn't share immediately! The talented AJRcreations (www.ajrcreations.com/) came by to deliver the commissioned portrait of Misha, and a bonus painting of Boo he’d made last summer.
The additional portrait of Boo, with its darker background, was his first draft that he created this time last year when Boo was battling a serious lung infection. I was also dealing with my own emotional struggles. It's interesting how the darker artwork resonated with my mood and Boo's issues at the time, even though I wasn't posting much.
But, our artist friend decided the dark canvas wasn't the best representation of Boo and recreated the painting on a light retro blue background, which is what he gave us first and that Chris and I fell in love with. We were not expecting both versions, and I'm grateful for this extra piece!
Fast forward to recently, and the same gifted artist has brought Misha's spirit to life in this striking new canvas. His bold, joyful bold "pinup style" art truly captures the playful and silly essence of both cockatoos.
I value supporting local artists, and I'm sure we'll commission Sara's portrait after she settles in a bit more. 💙🖌️🐦

We took Sara to the avian vet yesterday (Friday) and she did SO well! She is healthy, and her bloodwork is normal. I was scared that she might have health issues from her hard life before she was rescued by the people we got her from... but she is wonderfully healthy! She handled the whole exam, blood drawing and nail trim like a champ, and quickly forgave Dr. Ferry (Boo and Misha would NOT be so easygoing).
We found a fantastic deal on a 40" wide x 30" deep x75" tall cage from Petsmart and just waiting for it to get shipped and delivered :)
I'm backed up on videos to post, and might post more shorts with less attention to the description... but will be posting more about her.
I STILL have the aquarium, and I agree with Chris about not getting on Facebook Marketplace to try to sell or give it away again.
PS: Last pic, Sara got cropped out by accident. Her and Boo were eating at the same time across the room. Boo has surprised me in that he's accepting of her, unlike previous birds.

Yesterday we did a thing… Sara is being quarantined in my office in a temporary cage. She will see our avian veterinarian on Friday. A guy on Facebook marketplace saw my ad trying to sell my 30 gallon aquarium and asked me to take his umbrella cockatoo. He rescued Sara from a horrible abandonment situation in 2020. Her elderly mom died, neighbors took the other birds, and Sara was left in the laundry room eating wild birdseed for atleast 2 weeks. This guy usually rescues dogs, didn’t know anything about parrots or cockatoos, but gave her a good loving home until his life changed and he found my aquarium ad (his 200 gallon reef tank is amazing) while idly shopping for supplies.
Sara is very scared so far, and bonding with my boyfriend. Boo is angry at me. Misha is curious. I’m exhausted!!

What a cockatoo day today! Both birds came with us to our very awesome friend's. Boo got a little overheated but cooled down in the air-conditioning, and we kept him hydrated with homemade kombucha and coconut water. Midha has bunch of big spiky pinfeathers coming in and couldn't wait to get out of his harness. Both birds were pretty calm except for when Boo got into a verbal scream/curse match and when Misha laughed at kids walking by. I wish that I had taken video, but sometimes it’s just nice to enjoy the moments.
