Sowulo Official
Sowulo is the work of multi-instrumentalist and composer Faber Horbach, and is inspired by Anglo-Saxon and Viking-age mysticism and philosophy.
Captivated by the cyclical nature of existence and an animistic worldview, Faber is determined to express his spiritual path through his music.
With lyrics in Anglo-Saxon and historical instruments, Sowulo creates an immersive sonic universe that challenges both the creator and listener to go on an inner journey and to invoke cyclical wisdom from deep within.
Sowulo means ‘Sun' in proto-germanic. The music follows our connection with the Sun and tells the story of our inner and outer cycles of day and night, the four seasons, birth and death.
Sowulo has released four different concept albums and several singles and EPs over the course of the last ten years and is currently performing live as a 'Viking orchestra' all over Europe.

While the days are getting shorter, we are welcoming the darkness by preparing for the release show of our album 'NIHT'.
This album serves as a reminder that the Night is an essential part of life. The ‘thinking mind’ or ‘ego’ must overcome its fear of darkness and stillness, realising that these aspects of life are not degenerative, but vital.

All the cities we’ll visit lie within the borders of the Frankish Kingdom, as it was during the Early Medieval period.
That’s why we’ve named this tour ‘Faraþ intō Francrīce’, meaning ‘Journey into the Frankish Kingdom’ in Anglo-Saxon.

Winter is approaching us and forces nature into its yearly death so everything can be reborn in spring. We will follow this cyclical example, but not before we assemble the viking-orchestra to play one more show at @TivoliVredenburg this Saturday to celebrate this year!
2023 has been special for us with the release of our 4 moon cycle tracks, Wulfwiga reaching 5 million streams and playing some great festivals abroad.
