This is [COACHING]

A few months ago I was in Orlando, on a stage, feeling frozen in place, and wanting to scream

As an introvert, networking is hard for me
I don’t like being around large groups of people

It takes a lot of energy out of me

It takes even more when you’re British in a room full of gung ho - let’s go bro - Americans

I love you - but let’s tone it down a bit is it?

So picture this
We are in this room of hundreds of people, mostly fitness coaches, plus some of the most successful people in the world

Think Ed Mylett, Jen Gottleib, and Taylor Welch
There was an awards ceremony partway through, I was clapping as people got their name read, while also dying from the “LETS FUCKING GOs” being shouted by the extroverts in the room

And then
It happened
“Faye Chapman and Campbell Bourne”
Oh shit.

I sank into my seat and had a minor panic
I could either sit here and pretend that wasn’t me
Or I could get up and own my shit and be proud of winning

Well… It would be awkward AF if I just sat here and pretended that wasn’t me, so up I got
Blinded by the lights and looking out at all these silhouettes, trying to hide the terror on my face through a smile

When I sat back down I was angry at myself
That is not who I wanted to be
I don’t want to be the person who is terrified on stage. I want to be comfortable and proud of myself
And I missed that opportunity

But you know what they say
Opportunities are made, not found

So, during the next break, as everyone was coming back to their seats, I got back up on stage
I wanted to stand there and take it in. To be the person I wanted to become
So I did

If you want to become a better version of yourself
You gotta do what that person would do
What the current you is scared to do
Then, it’s onto the next

So to Faye a few months ago, I’m proud of you
And to the future you, I’m proud of you

I was called a loner at school, and I finally broke that label

I was bullied at school. For anything. My body, my taste in music, my hobbies. Girls can be cruel
One thing I remember being called was a “loner”
Which, thinking back, is weird, because I had lots of different friendship groups
But apparently this stuck with me

I was worried about being seen alone
Doing things alone
Being judged as a loner again

A few years ago, during my year of experiment, I did something I never thought I could do
My year of experiment was the year that changed my life forever

Before that year, being afraid made me miss out on so many different things in life
I couldn’t go shopping alone
I couldn’t go for a walk by myself
And I couldn’t try new things unless someone was coming with me

Have you ever been there?
It’s not uncomfortable. It’s fine. It’s just life

But I didn’t want to be “fine”
I didn’t want to be held back from doing things
I wanted to live a life of independence and excitement. I wanted to feel empowered

So one day I took my laptop, some headphones, and some courage, and went to a coffee shop
Alone

I paced the road, did a few blocks, and argued with myself about how uncomfortable this would feel and that it was a scary and dumb idea
I did NOT want to do it. I was about ready to go home when I swallowed the discomfort, held my head up, and pushed the huge glass door to enter (thank the lord it was not a pull because that would have been enough for me to die of embarrassment and change my mind)

“A table for how many?” The girl at the front asked me
“Just me” I said. Did she think I was a loner? Had I been stood up? Maybe she thought I didn’t have any friends and felt sorry for me

I sat down at the table and ordered a tea
I put my headphones in and opened my laptop
I looked around and guess what

Nobody was staring at me. There were no groups of girls pointing and laughing
I muted my music that I was using it as emotional support and shut my laptop
I pushed it away from me and sat back in the chair. Cup in hand I took it all in

I was doing it. I was now that person who could do things by myself and be ok with it
Since then I have changed as an individual. That small step for some was a huge leap for me. But I did it
I pushed through fear and did it
And I will always remember that moment of being so proud of myself
Accomplished, independent, and empowered

I want you to know that no matter who you are right now. If you don’t like it, you can change
You just gotta respect yourself enough to push on that door

This is [COACHING]

This was the most embarrassing thing that happened to me at the gym 😱

It was 5am
I was still fairly new to the gym
Still shy
Still trying to blend in
This didn’t last long that morning…

I put my headphones in and left the changing room
Focused on the squat rack I let nothing distract me. I headed straight for it before someone jumped in which would lead me to needing to freak out about what to change my exercise to

Warm up, done. Ready to go
Set 1 done. Feeling good
Set 2 done. Pushing it
Set 3 done. Killed it. A new personal best

Happy with my first exercise I started taking the plates off the bar
And this was the moment I knew I made an error

As I slid the plates off one side of the bar, almost in slow motion, the bar started to tip
Hands full, I could do nothing to stop the barbell tipping over, out of the squat rack heading towards two men standing close by 😬
I wanted to crawl out of my skin

The two guys, with faster reaction than I could even imagine having at this point, jumped out of the way
There was a huge bang and the plate slid off, promptly followed by the bar
I almost glowed red with embarrassment 😳

“Oh my gosh I am SO sorry” I apologized. Palms sweating, waiting for the backlash of almost killing them
But guess what happened

They laughed, picked up the plates, reracked the bar, and told me “don’t worry”

They weren’t mad. They didn’t judge me
And although I thought for sure the whole gym must have glanced over with the noise, everyone was back to focusing on themselves

I learnt 2 lessons that day
1 - People are too busy focusing on themselves at the gym to judge whether you are doing something wrong
2 - Always take plates off one plate from each side at a time

Please tell me I am not the only one with a story like this!

Reignited his mojo and lost 36lbs and has never been stronger

In his own words “I used to be fit when in the military and have now turned into a bit of a slug”

His biggest struggles were:
🤦Falling completely out of routine with both workouts and food compared to years before

🤦Found himself constantly snacking while studying and at work

🤦And this lead to energy slumps, brain fog and just a decrease in his mojo and motivation

How did we get Ryan to lose 36lbs :

📝Structure! We gave him an easy to follow meal structure where he could swap whole meals or just protein or carb sources to what he fancied without calorie counting

📝Clear goals with weights, we built a home gym program with specific goals for him to hit, so he could follow along on our app. So he wasnt wasting time doing a bit or this and bit of that and not seeing any results.

🍻Flexibility, during the coaching process Ryan had some personal issues to deal with , so we made sure we modified the program week to week , so he didnt feel like he was falling of track and could learn when to push and pull for results.

BIG Well done to current client jade she has been on a massive journey.

Started out stressed , no time, 1 year old son , studying a uni course, self employed and overwhelmed with where the hell to start.

She did one thing , she didn't wait for motivation she just took the step and took action

Her first stone she lost, was with no gym or home workouts, she didn't have any extra time but learnt how to make better choices with nutrition.

We slowly built up her up with small wins and her confidence grew and grew and before she knew it the lbs were coming off!! with out a big overhaul to her life.

Super proud how far she has come
