My dad’s battle with brain cancer is over. I can’t believe how hard he fought. This type of cancer afforded us only one possible outcome, unfortunately. And it really became about what we would do with the time we had… not if we would get more. I’m insanely proud of what we accomplished as a family in 2 years. Since his diagnosis, he got to visit all 50 states, see the top of the Denali mountain in Alaska, touch 6 continents and stare out at one last beautiful sunset. All while knowing his end was imminent. My mom’s unwavering pursuit of the best available treatment coupled with my siblings, our spouses and some close relatives willing to sacrifice their time to make a man’s dreams come true is nothing short of extraordinary. I couldn’t be more honored to be a part of this family. But what could you expect? When the man we’re nurturing is the one who raised us. I remember the first time my dad and I sat down to watch comedy together- quoting it back and forth for hours. To watch your dad laugh because you said something is a feeling unlike any other. He influenced my life so much and it’s hard to imagine a world where I won’t get to call him and do that anymore. His last 24 hours were the most I’ve watched someone suffer. Seeing his breath get faster and faster… and then slower and slower as his fate became more inevitable. I sat around all day yesterday asking myself if I’ll ever get to see him again… if he’ll ever let me know that he’s okay. Please dad, send me a sign? And last night… boy did he. A shooting star- one for my brother and I, and then another for my sister- against the backdrop of the northern lights to the smell of his favorite cinnamon raisin bread in the crisp OUTSIDE air… was enough for me. Rest in peace daddio. Make sure you and the big guy are tossing around some Dodgeball quotes up there. I love you.
At a show this past weekend in Spokane, something happened that I will never forget. In the middle of my set, a man in the audience collapsed from a heart attack. What happened next was one of the most powerful examples of community and human connection I’ve ever seen.
Without hesitation, people in the audience began taking turns performing CPR, clearing space for paramedics, and monitoring his vitals. He had no pulse for over 5 minutes. With the combined efforts of total strangers, and honestly, by what felt like a miracle that night, he was revived right there in the room.
The entire audience came together in that moment—no egos, no identities, no division—just one goal: saving a life.
The next day my funny friends @Akeemthefunnyguy , @RachelLaurendeau and I visited Mr. Wende in the hospital to finish the show for him. Getting to laugh and share stories with his family for hours in the hospital was the reminder I needed of why comedy is so needed- especially in times when the world feels so torn apart.
HUGE thank you to the people of Spokane, the brave medical professionals, and the Wende family for bringing this man into my life and reminding me just how special community can be.

Hey guys. Regarding our video on here from earlier today… I just wanted to apologize if I offended anyone by posting a clip from the time I was on Dr. Oz’s show 10 years ago. A lot of things have changed since then- that are rather controversial- that I was completely ignorant to. I need to do a better job vetting the videos my social media team puts out. While the sentiment of the message was sincere at the time in this video, obviously political circumstances have evolved that can really turn people off; especially since it’s not something I have any interest in exacerbating. On a different note- here is a photo of our family from Australia right now. My dad has a bucket list to visit all 7 continents and this will put us at 6/7. Thankful to be able to travel with him to share this memory together. Have a great Easter weekend everyone.

It was 3 years ago today we lost Stella, albeit in tragic fashion. Sometimes it’s hard to believe how quickly life can move on… I still haven’t. Stella was my companion, my kid, my straight man, my friend. If you ever met her, you knew that her ability to sense when and what you needed most was uncanny. And at those times it was just her loving presence that could make you feel understood. Like you were enough. Stella, Mel and I talk about you every day, kiddo. Thank you for making an impact on us. On others. On comedy. RIP 3/3/13-1/20/22.
