Today 29th December may just be another day for many but for us it’s the anniversary of the day 19 years ago that our lives changed forever .

Having been backwards and forwards to the GP for a number of weeks to be told cold , cough , chest infection, allergy to house dust mite, Steve was taken to A&E where they diagnosed heart failure and Dilated Cardiomyopathy.
His heart was twice the size that it should be. His heart rate was through the roof , BP ridiculous

Wasn’t heart failure something old people had ?
Well that’s what we thought , now we know something different .

Steve was dying , that’s it pure and simple .

His care was transferred to Harefield where the amazing Dr. Emma Birks quite literally saved his life on at least 3 occasions , the first and second time by implanting an LVAD .
We may all moan about the NHS but when you need them they are there for you 24/7 , 365 days a year .
One surgeon was literally flagged down in his car on his way home to spend Easter with his family when he came back , went into theatre and saved Steve .

All these years on our lives have changed dramatically but we got through it - together

Thank you to all the staff past and present who ensured we’ve had this precious time .

This journey has had its ups too, it's because of this I met many of you lovely people ( especially via the old CMA message boards ),so thanks to you too. But everyday we remember those we met on this journey who are no longer with us x
