SETC or Self Employed Tax Credit Requires a Tax Professional! Real for 2021 only. Proceed carefully. Rarely is it the max $36,220 (see below). Average self employment tax credit estimated at $3,000 based on my own experience. The credit is zero if you had a loss on Schedule C. IRS properly warns this is ONLY now for tax year 2021 and expires 4/15/25. Must file amended 2021 tax return with Form 7202. CANNOT file with 2022 or later tax return. You will need documentation proving this. DO NOT hire someone you do not know to help you. If you don't know a tax professional, hire one that someone you know trusts.
