Summers Fruit Barn
My name is April Summers, and I grew up about 100 yards East of where my store is now in a yellow house that had a fruit stand connected to it. I grew up in the middle of a citrus orchard with Japanese flower gardens up and down the road. In 1963, my parents opened Summers Citrus. My sister Lisa Summers had a produce store on Bell Road for 10 years and then came to South Phoenix. My dad sold her some land, closed his store, and she built hers. My sister continued in business for 46 years and retired. I decided I didn't want to see the store close, so I quit my job as a paramedic and took over the store in 2022. I am happy with my decision and hope for many successful years to come.
