Body Swap Shift
Probably not the next thing I do, but pondering making something that combined so many of my favorite things that are generally disliked by most people visiting my channel.
So, body swapping with robots and a music video -- both things that have tended to under perform. What's the likelihood that I can actually pull it off? I don't know. Sometimes it's just fun to share the worst ideas.
A few weeks ago I called myself an SEO Princess. Now I feel like the reverse of that! Haha.

Believe the HYPE!
Amongst the data I can look into is how often people "HYPE" my videos. I sometimes include this in CTAs at the end of my videos, but I have no idea how real this feature really is. A Google Search seems to confirm that it is real, but it never appears on ANY videos I view.
I am terrible at the social aspect of all this, but I feel like with hypes being limited in number, it would be good to hype other TSF creators, but I literally do not have this button. Am I crazy?

The Curious Case of Doing Something Different.
I realized my new video wasn't going to be popular. It's not exactly in a style that screams out to people in 2025. But I still REALLY liked what I was able to achieve with it. There's a certain style and theme being parodied and mimicked here that if you know it, you know it. And I may be hitting the "PBS crowd" with this look and feel, but come on, surely it rings a bell for some of you, right?
Some of my early videos were playing off infomercials or movie trailers or music videos -- and those were a lot of fun (though sometimes out of necessity). This one? It was an act of pure love of the style.
I'd encourage a few more people to give it a chance if you haven't yet. Maybe the overall look and feel will seem FAMILIAR even if you can't quite place it? Maybe the rest of you will just think I'm crazy!

Am I an SEO Princess?
Haha. I don't think so. I don't think I am even close. But one of the complaints often leveled at me for using AI is that it pushes out other things from showing up in Google searches.
I decided to test this.
It's been a while since I've tried Googling myself, but my blog used to rank fairly high for things like "TG Captions," "body swap captions," and so on. I'm still pretty high on the "TG Captions" search it seems.
On Google itself, I went with a real generic "body swap" term. The pages are things that are unsurprising. Reddit. Wikipedia. Okay, sure. If I wasn't sure what "body swap" was, now I know. There was a video section with a few videos. None of which were mine.
But, okay, what about that; what about the actual video search? This is a term I search often. I basically expanded the section from the main page. I still get a lot of truck/car videos for this search term; this has not changed. I'm familiar with most of the ones that actually fit what I'm searching for (you know, actual body swaps); I have (of course) watched most of them. A lot of family-friendly kind of stuff -- think things with labels like "The Fun Crew!" or "The Family Squad!" A lot of kid-parent swap things. A good number of stuff that's probably uploaded illegally, too. I remember these weird Troom Troom videos with like MILLIONS of views used to show up voiced over into tons of languages, but I guess not anymore? Among the list, I did find one of my videos, so I guess it's possible. Still, this does not seem like the bombardment that people complained about.
Search on YouTube is weirder. For sure, there is a lot of AI stuff that shows up. But YouTube''s recommendation engine is weird. Whereas the Google search results were pretty consistent across my browsers and account and incognito, YouTube was every which way, even when you search in ways that SHOULD give you consistent results (ie, search via upload date). But search has been so terrible in YouTube for a while now that I found long before AI took over, the only way you could find anything new or interesting was basically searching in various foreign languages -- I don't know how or why this worked, but it did -- incidentally, it still does.
Regardless, there wasn't a TON of stuff before AI came into play. At least not the sort of stuff you would or should upload to YouTube. Having so many creators fill this void feels nice. And if my experience with captioning is any guide, the excitement will probably die down. Or people will just quit after being harassed and then everyone will complain why there is such a void again. Cycle of life, I suppose.

Honest question...do I keep doing multi-part series?
So, take the latest episode of Misdownload: https://youtu.be/DzBmCQat7Xc
It's not doing so well, despite Part 1 still being one of my most watched videos.
This is true of most multi-part stories; they just don't perform as well.
I've realized this is at least, in part, because people like seeing (or at least experiencing) the swap itself, which can only happen once in some cases. But even ones with swap-after-swap, the sequels never seem to live up to the original -- and in the case of Misdownload, I feel like it's just about to get good.
I dunno. Sound off, I guess. But I also feel like asking that is asking for confirmation bias. :P

Just wanted to give a quick shout out to people who have given me words of encouragement over the past few weeks and months.
It's easy to see some negative stuff about me online and get down. Or to see the occasional bigoted comment and get upset. But I'd still like to believe the vast majority of people are good people.
Thank you. <3s xoxo

I've been making content for a long time in the TSF, TG space, and I've also been a relatively early user of AI tools to help me continue this. Recently, I've been seeing a lot of things like this...
"You can go on manyvids right now and hire a girl and give her a script to have her make you a 5 - 20 minute custom for the same price a yearly AI subscription membership would cost"
"If you want to make things for people, there are plenty of other ways to do it. You have been around on the internet long enough to see them..."
I get a lot of requests that feel like they're telling me what I should do or how I should create, but it's takes like these that are a lot of hot garbage.
First of all, I try to make content I enjoy -- though I'm not always successful at this! Sometimes I create something I hate (and usually end up sharing anyway). But at the end of the day, I want to enjoy what I do. And make no mistake, I enjoy using AI. It's fun and silly -- even the failed attempts are often just enjoyable (or often the most enjoyable). Sometimes I can turn myself into a robot or do something that would be impossible with the "plenty of other ways to do it." That's what I love THE MOST; the things that really push what I can do.
But on the flip side, you know what I DON'T enjoy? The videos of women just sort of doing something dirty while basically saying or pretending they are a man (ie, those 5-20 minute "custom" things) -- the kind of stuff you'd get from manyvids. I've seen these. I've watched these. They just aren't my thing. This is not me hating on you if you enjoy them! I'm not an arbiter of saying what YOU should like or not -- it's just I am not going to spend my time making something like that.
-----------------------------
As one of these arguments got deeper, this arose:
"[I'm] lucky to get 1,500 views in a single day...I am pumping out over 50,000 words of writing every month, making no money, spending hundreds of dollars every year to keep this site running. I am doing original 100% human produced work here, and I view that as better, more honest, than someone using a fucking plagiarism machine to create a video..."
Bear in mind, I am pumping out tens of thousands of words each month myself. I also spend (net) hundreds of dollars creating this content for people to enjoy. It also makes me no money (things like ads do run, but over the course of the year, I spend more on this than I make). And then ON TOP of that, I use AI to make videos based on these words, add images, do some SEO and minor marketing. And (fun fact) my blog is ALSO still just lucky to get 1,500 views in a single day. I am doing the 100% human produced work AND THEN doing AI work on top of that. So spare me your martyr complex.
But now let's talk YouTube. YouTube allows for a wider audience. And YouTube has been fun. I've had a wider reach than I think I've ever had, and I love it. And I don't know if it's jealousy or just being reactionary to AI stuff, but whatever. Rant over, I guess.
