আখ বা গেন্ডারি একটি প্রাকৃতিক পানীয়, যা শরীরে দ্রুত শক্তি জোগায় এবং ক্লান্তি দূর করতে সাহায্য করে। এটি শরীরকে ঠান্ডা রাখে ও গরমে পানিশূন্যতা কমায়। আখের রস হজমশক্তি উন্নত করে এবং লিভারের কার্যকারিতা ভালো রাখতে সহায়তা করে। এতে থাকা অ্যান্টিঅক্সিডেন্ট রোগ প্রতিরোধ ক্ষমতা বাড়ায় এবং শরীরকে সুরক্ষা দেয়। কোষ্ঠকাঠিন্য কমাতেও আখ কিছুটা সহায়ক। তবে ডায়াবেটিস রোগীদের এটি পরিমিতভাবে খাওয়া উচিত।

এত উপকারিতা থাকার পরও হতে পারে ক্ষতি, যখন আপনি সেটা অস্বাস্থ্যকরভাবে খাবেন। বিশেষ করে রাস্তাঘাটে প্রচণ্ড গরমে তৃষ্ণা মেটাতে দূষিত পানির বরফ মিশ্রিত বা স্যাকারিন মিশ্রিত আখের রস যখন খাবেন, তখন উপকারের চেয়ে ক্ষতি হওয়ার আশঙ্কা বেশি থাকে। তাই হাটে-বাজারে, দোকানে এবং ভ্যানগাড়িতে পাওয়া যায় আস্ত আখ। যেগুলো কিনে বাড়িতে নিয়ে ভালো পানি দিয়ে ধুয়ে চিবিয়ে খেতে পারলে আপনি অনেক বেশি উপকৃত হবেন।

একটু সুযোগ পেলেই আমি আমার নিজ গ্রামে যাই, বাল্যবন্ধুদের সাথে সময় কাটাই, আশেপাশের মানুষদের চিকিৎসা সেবা দেই। তারা ভালোবেসে আমাকে তাদের চাষ করা ফল, শাকসবজি প্রদান করে, যেটা আমার খুব ভালো লাগে। সম্প্রতি আমার স্ত্রী ও ছোট ভাইকে নিয়ে গিয়েছিলাম গ্রামের এক ভাইয়ের আখ খেতে। সেখান থেকে নিজ হাতে আমরা আখ কাটলাম, খেলাম। আখ নিয়ে অনেক মজা করলাম। তারই একটি ভিডিও দেখবেন আগামীকাল সকাল ১০:০০ টায়।

Sugarcane (akh or gendari) is a natural drink that quickly provides energy to the body and helps reduce fatigue. It keeps the body cool and helps prevent dehydration during hot weather. It is also somewhat helpful in relieving constipation. However, diabetic patients should consume it in moderation.

Despite these benefits, it can become harmful when consumed in an unhealthy way. Especially in extreme heat, when drinking sugarcane juice from roadside vendors mixed with contaminated ice or saccharin to quench thirst, the risk of harm is higher than the benefits. Therefore, sugarcane sold in markets, shops, and vans is often available as whole sticks. It is much better to buy it, wash it properly with clean water at home, and then chew it for greater health benefits.

Whenever I get a chance, I visit my native village, spend time with childhood friends, and provide medical services to people around me. পৃথিবীতে ভালোবাসার যেন কোনো শেষ নেই। সন্তানের প্রতি বাবা-মায়ের ভালোবাসা, বাবা-মায়ের প্রতি সন্তানের ভালোবাসা, স্বামী-স্ত্রীর পারস্পরিক ভালোবাসা, আত্মীয়-স্বজন, প্রতিবেশী—সবার ভালোবাসায় যেন সুন্দরভাবে বেঁচে আছে এই পৃথিবী এবং সকল প্রাণী।

আমার চেম্বারে প্রতিদিন অসংখ্য রোগী আসেন। তাদের ভালোবাসা, বিশ্বাস ও আস্থা আমাকে যে কতটা ঋণী করে রেখেছে, তা ভাষায় প্রকাশ করে শেষ করতে পারব না। মানুষের ভালোবাসা থেকে প্রতিনিয়ত কিছু না কিছু শিখি, তাই সবার প্রতি আমি আন্তরিকভাবে কৃতজ্ঞ।

সম্প্রতি এমনই এক বোন আমার কাছে চিকিৎসা নিতে অনেক দূর থেকে এসেছিলেন। বিদেশে গিয়ে চিকিৎসা করিয়েছিলেন। কিন্তু অপারেশন না করিয়ে আমার ওপর আস্থা রেখে আমার কাছেই অপারেশন করিয়েছেন। সৃষ্টিকর্তার কৃপায় ও সবার দোয়ায় অপারেশন সফল হয়েছে।

তার গলার সামনের দিকে ছিল বিশাল একটি টিউমার। ২০ বছর ধরে সেই টিউমারের কারণে তিনি অসহনীয় কষ্টে দিন কাটিয়েছেন। সফল অপারেশনের পর টিউমারটি যখন বের করে আনা হলো, তখন তার স্বামীর অনুভূতি ও কষ্টের কথা শুনে আমি নিজেও আবেগে আপ্লুত হয়ে পড়ি।

একজন প্রিয় মানুষের কষ্ট দেখে যে মানুষটি নীরবে কেঁদেছেন, সেই মানুষটি স্ত্রীর অপারেশন সফল হওয়ার পর টিউমারটি দেখে আবেগে আপ্লুত হয়ে আনন্দে কেঁদেছেন। এটিও আমার জন্য এক বিশেষ অনুভূতি। এই ভালোবাসার প্রতি আমি সম্মান জানাই।

There seems to be no end to love on earth. Parents’ love for their children, children’s love for their parents, the mutual love between husband and wife, the love of relatives and neighbors — through everyone’s love this world and all living beings seem to live beautifully.

জানা না থাকলে বোঝা যায় না—কোনটা কী এবং কোন রোগকে কতটা গুরুত্ব দিয়ে দেখা উচিত।

একটা সময় ছিল, নাক-কান-গলার অনেক সহজ-সাধারণ রোগের নামও অনেকেই জানতেন না। জানলেও সেগুলোকে গুরুত্ব দিয়ে চিকিৎসা করানোর ব্যাপারে অনেকেরই সচেতনতা ছিল না। কিন্তু সময়ের পরিবর্তনের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে মানুষ এখন অনেক বেশি সচেতন হচ্ছে। বিভিন্ন রোগব্যাধি সম্পর্কে আগ্রহ নিয়ে জানছে, চিকিৎসা সম্পর্কে জানতে চাইছে এবং সঠিক চিকিৎসা নিয়ে সুস্থও হচ্ছে।

সম্প্রতি আমার চেম্বারে নাটোর থেকে একজন সম্মানিত রোগী ও তার স্ত্রী এসেছেন। তাঁর কানের ওপর একটি বড় টিউমার রয়েছে। প্রায় ২৫ বছর আগে এটি খুবই ছোট ছিল। ছোট থাকা অবস্থায় একবার ঢাকায় এবং আরেকবার নাটোরে এর অপারেশন করা হয়েছিল। এরপরও টিউমারটি আবার ফিরে আসে। রোগমুক্তির আশায় তিনি দেশের বাইরেও চিকিৎসা নিতে গিয়েছিলেন।

জিহ্বার কোথাও ঘা, ক্ষত, গোটা অবহেলা করছেন না তো? অবহেলা না করলে ভালো, আর অবহেলা করলে হতে পারে আপনারই ক্ষতি। জিহ্বার ক্যান্সারের পূর্বলক্ষণগুলোর মধ্যে অন্যতম লক্ষণগুলো হলো জিহ্বার ক্ষত, ব্যথা, নাড়াতে বা কথা বলতে কষ্ট।

দুই-তিন সপ্তাহের বেশি এ ধরনের যেকোনো সমস্যা থেকে সুস্থ না হলে নিকটস্থ নাক-কান-গলার রোগ বিশেষজ্ঞ চিকিৎসকের শরণাপন্ন হবেন। সাদাপাতা, অ্যালকোহল ছাড়াও Human papillomavirus (হিউম্যান প্যাপিলোমা ভাইরাস) সংক্রমণের ফলে জিহ্বার ক্যান্সার হতে পারে।

জিহ্বাকে ভালো রাখতে হলে এবং সুস্থ থাকতে হলে অবশ্যই এ ধরনের খারাপ অভ্যাস ত্যাগ করতে হবে। তারপরও যদি জিহ্বার ক্যানসার হয় অথবা জিহ্বায় ঘা, ক্ষত ওষুধ খেয়ে ভালো না হয়, ভয় না পেয়ে দেরি না করে অবশ্যই নিকটস্থ চিকিৎসকের কাছে যাবেন।

মায়ের বয়সী একজন সম্মানিত রোগী ও তার পরিবার যখন আমার ভিডিও দেখে অনেক আশা নিয়ে আমার চেম্বারে আসেন। আমি জানলাম, তিনি তার জিহ্বার ঘা শুকাতে অনেক ওষুধ খেয়েছেন এবং রোগ সম্পর্কে জানতে অনেক চিকিৎসক দেখিয়েছেন।

৬বার অপারেশন হয়েছিল কানে

কান শুধু শ্রবণের মাধ্যম নয়; সৌন্দর্যবর্ধনের জন্য এটি অন্যতম মূল্যবান অঙ্গ। যার কানের কোনো অংশ নেই, অথবা কানের থাকা সত্ত্বেও সৌন্দর্য হারিয়ে গেছে—তার মনের কষ্টটা কেবল সে নিজেই বুঝতে পারে। সবচেয়ে বেশি কষ্ট লাগে যখন মানুষ নানান প্রশ্ন করে তাকে কষ্ট দেয়।

আমার কাছে এমনও অনেক রোগী আসেন, যারা নাক–কান–গলার বিভিন্ন সমস্যায় অত্যন্ত কষ্টে আছেন; এই কষ্টের কথা বলতে গিয়ে কখনো কখনো তারা কাঁদেন। একজন চিকিৎসক হিসেবে আমি তাদের সাহস ও সান্ত্বনা দিই, যাতে তারা মানসিকভাবে অন্তত কিছুটা শান্তি পান।

আমার চেম্বারে যখন এই বোনটি এসেছিলেন, আমি দেখলাম তার দুই কানে বড় বড় কেলয়েড তৈরি হয়েছে। এর ফলে তিনি মানসিকভাবে অনেক কষ্ট পাচ্ছিলেন এবং এই অসুন্দর অংশটি সবসময় ঢেকে রাখতেন—কাউকে যেন দেখা না যায়, কেউ কোনো প্রশ্ন না করে।

ছয়বার অপারেশন করেও তার কানের কেলয়েড দূর হয়নি। তারপরও তিনি থেমে যাননি; চেষ্টা চালিয়ে গেছেন। মুক্তি পেতে তিনি অনেকের কাছে গিয়েছিলেন। অবশেষে আমার একটি ভিডিও দেখে বড় আশা নিয়ে আমার কাছে এসে তিনি তার কষ্টের কথা বলেছিলেন।

৬০ বছরের মায়ের গলায় ২২ বছরের টিউমার

অনেকেই বলেন, শহরের মানুষের তুলনায় গ্রামের মানুষগুলো অনেকটা সহজ-সরল। আরও বলা যায়, একটু অসচেতনও বটে। তবে সেটা একটা সময় ছিল। কিন্তু বিশ্বায়নের এই যুগে শহর ও গ্রামের মানুষ সমানভাবে সবকিছু বুঝতে চেষ্টা করছে এবং পারছেও।

৬০ বছরের এই মা তাঁর পরিবার এবং গলার সামনের বিশাল আকারের একটি থাইরয়েড গ্ল্যান্ডের টিউমার নিয়ে যখন চিকিৎসার উদ্দেশ্যে আমার চেম্বারে এলেন, তখনও আমি বুঝতে পারিনি যে তাঁর গলায় শাড়ির আড়ালে লুকিয়ে আছে বিশাল আকারের একটি টিউমার।

মেডিকেলের ভাষায় যেটাকে থাইরয়েড গ্ল্যান্ডের টিউমার বলা হয়, তাঁরা সেটাকে জানতেন “হেয়ালি” রোগ নামে। আমি যখন জানতে চাইলাম, এত বছর পর কেন এলেন; উত্তরটা শুনে আমার খুব দুঃখ লাগল। ভয় আর না বোঝার কারণে আজ তাঁর এত কষ্ট হচ্ছে।

দৈনন্দিন জীবনের কাজকর্ম আর ঘুম এখন তাঁর জন্য খুবই কষ্টকর হয়ে উঠেছে। যেটা হয়তো তাঁর হতো না, যদি তিনি ২২ বছর আগে অপারেশন করিয়ে নিতেন। যাই হোক, বিশ্বাস, ভালোবাসা আর বুকভরা আশা নিয়ে পরিবারটি আমার কাছে এসেছেন। আমিও তাঁর সুস্থতা কামনা করি।

Many people say that compared to city dwellers, villagers tend to be simpler and more straightforward—perhaps even a bit less aware. That may have been true once. But in this era of globalization, people from both cities and villages are trying to understand everything equally, and they are succeeding.

When this 60-year-old mother came to my clinic seeking treatment, accompanied by her family, she had a massive tumor in the front of her neck—a thyroid gland tumor. At first, I couldn’t even tell, as it was hidden beneath her sari.

In medical terms, it is called a thyroid gland tumor, but they knew it as a disease called “Heyali.” When I asked why they had come after so many years, her answer made me deeply sad. Because of fear and lack of understanding, she is now suffering greatly.

Her daily activities and even sleep have become very difficult. This might not have happened if she had undergone surgery 22 years ago. Still, with faith, love, and hope, her family has come to me. I sincerely pray for her recovery.

ফলাফল হিসেবে যে কষ্ট, সেই কষ্টই রয়ে যেত। আমার চেম্বারে দেশ এবং দেশের বাইরে থেকে অনেক রোগীই আসেন নাক, কান ও গলার বিভিন্ন সমস্যা নিয়ে। তারা আমাকে পছন্দ করেন এবং ভালোবাসেন বলেই হাজারো মানুষের ভিড়ে কিছু মানুষকে আমি পাই। আমি সবার প্রতি কৃতজ্ঞ।

দুবাইপ্রবাসী এই বোনটি তার নাকের কিছু সমস্যা নিয়ে আমার কাছে আসেন। আমি তার সব কষ্টের কথাগুলো শুনলাম। একটি কষ্টই আমার খুব খারাপ লেগেছিল—নাকে স্প্রে দিয়ে খাবার খেতে হতো, না দিলে নাক বন্ধ হয়ে যেত। বিষয়টি খুব কষ্টদায়ক ছিল।

সেই কষ্ট থেকে বোনটি কীভাবে মুক্তি পেলেন, তার আরও কী কী কষ্ট ছিল, কী সমস্যার কারণে তার অপারেশন করা লাগল, এখন তিনি কেমন আছেন, আমরা কী চিকিৎসা দিয়েছিলাম—সবকিছুই জানতে পারবেন আগামীকাল বিকেল ৫:০০ টায় তার একটি ভিডিও দেখে।

একজন মা তার সন্তানের চিন্তা বাদ দিয়ে নিজের চিন্তাটা কখনোই করেন না। বরং নিজের কষ্টটা বাদ দিয়ে সন্তানের সুখের কথাটাই আগে ভাবেন। তাই তো এ ভুবনে সবার ঊর্ধ্বে মা। যার কোনো তুলনা হয় না। যার ঋণ কখনো শোধ হয় না।

গলার সামনে বিশাল বড় একটি থাইরয়েড গ্ল্যান্ডের টিউমার নিয়ে ৬ সন্তানের একজন মা যখন আমার কাছে এলেন; আমি জানতে পারলাম সন্তানগুলো খুব ছোট রেখেই অনেক বছর আগে তার স্বামী এই পৃথিবী ছেড়ে চলে গেছেন।

স্বামী হারিয়ে সন্তান ও নিজের দেহে থাকা ২৫ বছরের একটি টিউমার নিয়ে খুব কষ্টে জীবন কাটিয়েছেন এই মা জননী। তবুও অপারেশন করে রোগমুক্ত হননি শুধু একটি মাত্র ভয়ে, যদি তার কিছু হয়ে যায় তবে তার সন্তানদের কী হবে।

টিউমারটির সাথে সাথে সন্তানরা যখন বড় হলো, তখন সেই সন্তানরাই মায়ের কষ্ট দূর করতে উঠে-পড়ে লাগল। একের পর এক পরীক্ষা আর চিকিৎসক দেখাতে দেখাতে অবশেষে তার সন্তানরা আমার কাছে নিয়ে এলেন তাদের মাকে।

সকল পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষা করে দেখলাম তার টিউমারটি এত বড় হয়ে গেছে, শ্বাসনালির উপর চাপ পড়েছে। যেটা অজ্ঞান করার ক্ষেত্রে অনেকটা ঝুঁকি থাকে। আমি তাদের সবকিছু বুঝিয়ে বলার পরও তারা অপারেশনে রাজি হলেন।

সকলের দোয়া ও সৃষ্টিকর্তার কৃপায় আমার টিম নিয়ে টানা ৬ ঘণ্টা অপারেশনের পর ২৫ বছরের টিউমারটি অপসারণ করতে সক্ষম হলাম। আমি সবার প্রতি কৃতজ্ঞ, যারা আমার সাথে ছিলেন। তিনি ভালো আছেন। এমনই একটি ভিডিও দেখবেন আগামীকাল সকাল ১০:০০টায়।

এই মায়ের পূর্ণ সুস্থতার জন্য দোয়া ও আশীর্বাদ চাই। সকলের সুস্বাস্থ্য ও মঙ্গল কামনা করছি। ধন্যবাদ সবাইকে।

A mother never thinks of herself before thinking of her children. Instead, she puts aside her own pain and always thinks about her children’s happiness first. That is why, in this world, a mother is above everyone else. There is no comparison to a mother, and her debt can never truly be repaid.

When a mother of six came to me with a huge thyroid gland tumor at the front of her neck, I learned that her husband had passed away many years ago, leaving their children very young.

After losing her husband, this mother spent years struggling to raise her children while carrying a 25-year-old tumor in her own body. Yet she never underwent surgery because of one fear: “If something happens to me, what will happen to my children?”

As the years passed, the tumor grew along with her children. Eventually, those same children became determined to relieve their mother’s suffering. After undergoing one test after another and consulting several doctors, they finally brought their mother to me.

After completing all the necessary examinations, I found that the tumor had grown so large that it was putting pressure on her airway. This made anesthesia and surgery considerably more challenging and risky. Even after I explained all the risks and details to the family, they agreed to proceed with the operation.

With everyone’s prayers and the grace of the Almighty, I performed the surgery with my team. After six continuous hours of surgery, we were able to successfully remove the 25-year-old tumor.

I am deeply grateful to everyone who stood by me throughout the procedure. She is doing well.

যে মানুষটিকে সহজে বোঝানো যায় না, তাকেই বেশি ভালোবাসি। বুঝতে না চাইলেও আদর, স্নেহ আর ভালোবাসা দিয়ে বোঝানোর চেষ্টা করি। কারণ আমি সব সময় মনে করি, সে আমার আপনজন। তার ভালোটাই আমি সব সময় চাই। বলছি শিশুদের কথা। আমার চেম্বারে শিশুদের আগমন সবচেয়ে বেশি, যেটা আমার খুব ভালো লাগে। তবে খারাপ লাগার দিকটা হলো, যখন তাদের বাবা-মায়ের মুখে তাদের কষ্টের কথাগুলো শুনি।

অনেকেই আছেন, আমার কাছে আসার আগে অনেক জায়গায় গিয়েছিলেন। অপারেশনের কথা শুনে ভয় পেয়ে, চিকিৎসায় ভালো ফলাফল না পেয়ে, বিদেশে গিয়ে এবং বিদেশের চিকিৎসা নিয়েও ফিরে এসে আমার কাছে আসেন। এতে আমার বীরত্বের কিছুই নেই, তবে দায়িত্ব অনেক বাড়িয়ে দিতে হয়। বিশেষ করে শিশুদের কথা না বললেই নয়। কখনো কখনো পরিবারের মানুষের মতোই অভিভাবক হয়ে পাশে থাকতে হয়।

একজন শিশুর যখন অপারেশনের সিদ্ধান্ত দিই, বাবা-মা শুনেই পিছিয়ে যায়—“স্যার, ওষুধ দিয়ে ভালো করেন।” ওষুধ খেয়ে যখন পরিপূর্ণ সুস্থ না হয়, তখন সন্তানের কষ্ট সহ্য করতে না পেরে তারাই বলেন, “স্যার, অপারেশন করেন।”এরপর শুরু হয় আমাদের চুলচেরা বিশ্লেষণ। খুব সতর্কতার সাথে প্রতিটি শিশুর অপারেশনে নামতে হয়। কারণ সন্তানটিকে নিজের সন্তানের মত ভেবে অপারেশন করি। আর সৃষ্টিকর্তার কাছে প্রার্থনা করি, সন্তান যেন মায়ের কোলে ফিরিয়ে দিতে পারি।

অপারেশন থিয়েটারে নেওয়া থেকে শুরু করে জ্ঞান ফেরা পর্যন্ত বাবা-মায়ের চিন্তার চেয়ে চিকিৎসকের টেনশন কোনো অংশ কম থাকে না। শিশুদের হাসিমুখে অপারেশন থিয়েটারে নেওয়া, তাদের অজ্ঞান করা—এত সহজ কাজ না। তারপরও সৃষ্টিকর্তার কৃপায়, আপনাদের সবার দোয়ায় আমরা অপারেশন করছি। বিশেষ শিশু, বয়সে ছোট শিশু — যাদের অপারেশন করতে না চাইলেও শিশুদের কষ্ট দেখে, বাবা-মায়ের অনুরোধে অসংখ্য শিশুর সফল অপারেশন করেছি।

তবে আমি বিশ্বাস করি, সৃষ্টিকর্তা চাইলে সুস্থতা কেউ ঠেকাতে পারবে না। আবার সৃষ্টিকর্তা না চাইলে কেউ সুস্থও হতে পারে না। এটা মেনেই চিকিৎসা নিতে হয়। কারণ সবকিছুর মালিক তিনি, যিনি আমাদের সৃষ্টি করেছেন। আমার জন্য সবাই দোয়া করবেন। চিকিৎসা দিয়ে আমি যেন আপনাদের পাশে থাকতে পারি। সকলের সুস্বাস্থ্য ও মঙ্গল কামনা করছি। ধন্যবাদ।

I love the people who are not easy to convince or make understand. Even when they don’t want to understand, I try to explain things to them with care, affection, and love. Because I always feel that they are my own people, and I always want what is best for them.

I’m talking about children. Children are the most frequent visitors to my chamber, and I genuinely love that. The difficult part, however, is listening to their parents describe the suffering their children are going through.

Many patients come to me after visiting numerous other places. Some are frightened after being advised to undergo surgery; some come after not getting satisfactory results from treatment; and others come to me after traveling abroad and receiving treatment there without achieving the desired outcome. There is nothing heroic about this for me, but it certainly increases my responsibility. This is especially true when it comes to children. Sometimes, I have to stand beside them like a member of their own family and take on the role of a guardian.

When I recommend surgery for a child, the parents often become hesitant as soon as they hear the word “operation.” They say, “Sir, please make my child better with medicine.” But when medication fails to bring complete recovery, and they can no longer bear to see their child suffer, they themselves say, “Sir, please perform the surgery.”

That is when our detailed analysis begins. Every child’s surgery has to be approached with extreme caution and care. I operate on each child as if they were my own. And I pray to the Almighty that I may be able to return that child safely to their mother’s arms.

From the moment a child is taken into the operating theatre until they regain consciousness, a doctor’s anxiety is no less than that of the parents. Taking a child into the operating theatre with a smile on their face and putting them under anesthesia is never an easy task. Yet, by the grace of the Almighty and with all your prayers, we continue to perform these operations. Whether it is a child with special needs or a very young child—although there are times when I may hesitate to operate because of their age or condition—seeing their suffering and responding to their parents’ requests has led me to successfully operate on countless children.

However, I believe that when the Almighty wills someone to recover, no one can prevent it. And if He does not will it, no one can make recovery happen. We have to accept this while seeking medical treatment. He is the ultimate owner of everything, the One who created us.
