I’ve rescued several cats & dogs in my 50 years of life but never one like Penny girl . Many of you know how bad life was for her before we rescued her . If you don’t the ear that’s been half bitten off should give you an idea. Her trauma ran deep & still does & she’s taught me a lot . Most of all patience. There’s no quick fix for a sweet soul that thinks every time they go for a ride that they will be abandoned or when they hear a loud sound that they need to submit and pee themselves because they are expecting a beating. I could never use the word no with her because it paralyzed her with fear even to this day 2 & a half years later.
I’m very happy to share that she recently has been making a lot of changes . SHE HAS CONFIDENCE 😢 she’s no longer scared to make a decision out of fear that she will be beaten. Things that used to trip her up are clicking now . We brought a puppy home early this year and she loves him so much that she rough houses with him on a daily basis like normal dogs and I’ve never seen her do that before ! Usually when the others get wild and crazy she removes herself from it . She also used to cuddle and ask for attention from us humans for just a quick 10-20 and then remove herself to go be alone NOT ANYMORE! Just a few days ago for the first time ever she started playing with me like she was a puppy. Which she has also never done before . Sorry I know this is long but I’ve just been noticing all of these little changes and have been wanting to share with her online family. Love & time truly heal all ! She’s now on her way to her 6th birthday & her grays are coming in and her first 3 years or so may have been terrible but she now knows what it’s like to be a puppy to be free of fear and to not go hungry and to have the love of a family ! Not just us humans but every dog in her pack and her online family! You guys have helped make it possible and I really would like to say thank you for that !
