As every year, it’s time for some Christmas guitar videos 🎄 I’ve been on YouTube since 2020, and every December I’ve released a Christmas Special, reworking well-known holiday songs into instrumental guitar arrangements. I’ve listed them all below.

Tomorrow at 11:00 AM I’ll be releasing a Jazz Guitar version of “Jingle Bell Rock”,don’t miss it! That way, this Christmas metalheads can play “Jingle Bells,” rock players can tackle “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” and jazz guitarists get “Jingle Bell Rock.”

What do you think about Queen's Sir Brian (Harold) May? This beloved guitarist was particularly brilliant in composing guitar parts similar to string instrument parts! Many Queen songs have a rhythm guitar on low notes that develop melodies that intertwine with the vocals, as if the electric guitar were a cello (think of the verses of "Sombody To Love"), while other songs have orchestrations of melodies as classical orchestras use to do with string sections (think at "Bohemian Rhapsody"'s outro). In the solos, however, we have very strong and very singable melodies, very effective pentatonic-rock language, a great sense of rhythm and rubato and that always brilliant talent of composing the type of solo perfect for the type of song! Please take a look at the videos of me challenging with my favourite solos by master Brian!
One of the most iconic reference metal guitar solos is Megadeth's "Tornado Of Souls" one, by master Marty Friedman! This solo is amazing, beautiful, very hard... every metal guitar player wants to learn it sooner or later in his life! Let's talk a bit about it. First of all we can observe that this solo is well structured in six choruses: 1st and 2nd chorus are for melodies: Marty plays a beautiful theme, goin' into chords tones, with his trademark semitone bending and a bit of Hungarian Minor and Hirajoshi Pentatonic scales that give its characteristic exotic mood. 3rd chorus is full of creative arpeggios, Bm add9, Em over the chord G (that sounds like a G6 arpeggio), E (major), everyone with a different pattern, and a tremolo picking on the B Harmonic Minor scale at the end of the chorus. 4th one is more rock, more Minor Pentatonic scale with a couple of arpeggios at the end leading to 5th chorus which is another arpeggio section, this one more regular than the previous, on two strings, maybe one of the most easy and affordable parts of the solo. 6th and final chorus is very hard!!! First of all is hard to understand the right notes sequence and second is hard to play because it goes very fast... Almost impossible!!! I leave you a link to my version of this solo! NOTE: there's one note in the 6th section on the upper E on the 24th fret on the 1st string; I don't own 24 frets guitars but my Fender Telecaster has that E note... right on the edge of the neck pick up!!! I also put a slow motion clip at the end of the video in which I show where I played thet note! Please write me in the comments if you want a transcription with scrolling tab of this, I'll make for you! Enjoy, Dario.
In my personal vision Dimebag Darrell is a kind of badass metal version of Eddie Van Halen with a lot of blue notes! I like it! He was loved by the entire guitar community and considered a very original and creative guitarist in the metal scene, maybe because of his bluesy taste! All this without considering the incredibly brutal and precise technique of this 6-string monster. The guitar solo from "Cowboys From Hell" is one of his most representatives, I leave you a link to my version of this solo! Dario.
Let's talk about blues today! Robben Ford is one of my favourites, his blues phrasing is full of tasty jazzy flavours, lot of slides and embellishments, blues scale goin' into diminished scale or superlocian mode on V, lot of 16ths rhythm! The guitar solo from "Help The Poor" is one of his musts, here's a LINK to MY VERSION! enjoy! https://youtu.be/YbdX-I3mWl4
Gary Moore was one of the "hot blooded" guitarists ever! In his style there are these abrupt accelerations (also thanks to his fast technique) that end with a screaming note, but most of all his wide string bending and vibrato! In the ending of his guitar solo in the theme "Cold Day In Hell" there are two bendings of a perfect 4th, 2 tones plus 1 semitone, really wide, to peel your hands!!! Here there is the link to this video of me playing that guitar solo, please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE for more videos! Cheers, Dario.
Nuno Bettencourt was another of my idols when I was a teenager. His style is pretty similar to Eddie Van Halen's with tons of alternate picking, tapping and legato stuff (the good Eddie really influenced generations of rock guitarists). One of the first videos I posted on this channel is the iconic guitar solo from Extreme's "Get The Funk Out", from the album "Extreme II Pornograffitti" (incredible cool guitars on this record, take a listen to the whole album, trust me!). The tapping/string skipping arpeggios part was hard to decodificate the way he played it in the original studio version! I leave you the link to my video, please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE for more videos! Cheers, Dario.
