@Vegansignguy, since it appears my most recent comment on your latest community post is disappearing, I’m inviting you to have a live debate on this topic here on my channel. I think it’s important for people to see an open, evidence based discussion. As you said — truth matters. Let me know.
For transparency, here’s the comment that seems to have disappeared twice:
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a completely different species from Pseudomonas denitrificans. Bringing up an infection caused by P. aeruginosa is irrelevant, as these two are about as related as a lion is to a “house” cat. They share the same genus, but are different species.
If you’re suggesting there’s a risk of infection from B12 produced by P. denitrificans, could you please provide a credible source? See—this is an example of where science helps us, by making distinctions between things that sound similar on the surface.
The fact that B12 wasn’t named before 1948 doesn’t mean it didn’t exist. It just means it hadn’t been discovered yet, like with any other vitamin.
Many B12-like compounds found in soil, root nodules, or some plant sources are structurally similar but are classified as cobalamin analogs (sometimes called corrinoids or pseudo-B12). These analogs have a similar chemical structure to B12 but may differ in their side groups or molecular arrangement, which affects whether they can function in human metabolism.
The main bioactive forms for humans are methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin. Cyanocobalamin is a synthetic form commonly used in supplements; the body converts it into the active forms after absorption. Hydroxocobalamin is another naturally occurring form produced by bacteria, and it can also be converted by the body into the active forms.
Regardless of what substrate the bacteria are grown on (whey, molasses, or other sources), the key point is that B12 is made by bacteria—not invented by humans or a corporation. No amount of “ick factor” or financial conspiracy changes this fact. For clarity, do you acknowledge that B12 is naturally produced by bacteria? Just making sure we agree on that basic fact.
You mentioned bacteria “hailing from” dairy waste, sewer sludge, or being GMO. Could you clarify what you mean by this? Beyond referring to the types of substrates used or supposedly used in industrial cultivation, are you saying that biologically active forms of B12 did not exist in nature before humans?
