Our people have been known as the People of the Book as a reference to Hebrew nation described in the Bible.
The truth is that we, Hebrew/Jewish nation, are actually a People from the Land.
Only after being expelled from Israel and being a "nomadic" nation, others started calling us as People from the Book.
As a People of the Land, after 2 thousand "nomadic" years we are back here, having to defend ourselves and our Land as never before.
After celebrating Chanukah, where Jews from two thousand years ago, the Maccabees, fought here as well, now our soldiers are there, making sure that this time the People of the Land are safe and continue shinning it's light to the world.
Throughout the years we did become a "book" nation as well.
Studying is at the core of our people. We do not just study to become knowledgeable. We study to improve as people and nation and even further, believe that our studies have an impact to help our soldiers success on the field.
Before studying we do a small prayer dedicating our learning "on behalf of the safety and victory of our Holy soldiers".
Twist feelings...is being painful in different levels to se everyday that one Israeli soldier falls....but also get feeling to be proud of being part of this brave nation, fighting for noble causes and taking part in continuing the coming chapters of our people and impacting our future generations here.
Only with my constant Torah learnings is that all of the rest make real sense.
Tuesday is the day we meet with our "Chaburot" at the synagogue with some typical Jewish food, sit and learn together about law, values and performance.
