I want to make more videos, but I gotta be honest with you guys, there's nothing really in this for me other than the love of it.
The channel makes around $1 per day, and I haven't broken even yet for the cost of the assets I've been collecting for the environments and I want to buy more assets for upcoming videos.
I'll be real with you, I do this mainly because I love level design. I love making environments and sound design that gives a certain vibe and nostalgia.
Problem is it can take hundreds of hours to make just one 6-10 minute video. For $1 per day this isn't worth it.
I want to buy more assets so I can make a Mall & Supermarket video, but yeah at $1 per day, I can't justify spending $xxx on assets and invest these kinds of hours when I could be working on something more profitable.
The videos are made with UE5. I have a lot of ideas. There is potential for a GateSync Research game here if we can fund it but any plans for a game are unrealistic until the videos are profitable at least.
So what should I do?
1. I'm a web developer, so I could make a custom GateSync website (90s looking style for authenticity) with membership similar to Patreon but custom with exclusive access for members. Stuff like access to extra videos and Easter eggs, Discord community, and perhaps game demos if we are successful enough to entertain that idea further.
2. Patreon - Less effort but less cool and they take a cut and they kind of suck.
