You know what I’m sick and tired of hearing?
“Get a real job.” Oh really? So putting in 9 to 12 hours a day, writing, editing, researching, designing thumbnails, staying on top of trends, fighting the algorithm, uploading, networking, responding to thousands of comments — that’s not a “real job”?

Do you think YouTube runs on magic? That videos just appear out of thin air? This is hard work. It’s creative work, technical work, and business work all rolled into one.

When you clock out at 5pm, guess what? A YouTuber is still working — brainstorming the next title, checking analytics, optimizing SEO, making sure notifications don’t clash.
Creators don’t get weekends. They don’t get holidays. They don’t get “time off” unless they want their entire career to collapse overnight because the algorithm doesn’t wait for anybody.
And let’s be real — if YouTube “isn’t a real job,” why are entire companies, networks, and multi-billion-dollar brands investing in creators? Why do some of the most powerful voices online come from YouTubers, not TV executives?
This “get a real job” garbage comes from people who don’t understand how the world works in 2025. Guess what? Media has changed. The internet is the workplace. YouTube is a career. It pays bills, it supports families, it creates opportunities.
So the next time some keyboard warrior wants to say “get a real job,” I’ve got a message for you:
This is a real job. It’s harder than your 9-to-5. It’s more demanding. And it takes guts, consistency, and passion. If you can’t respect that, keep your jealousy to yourself.
