Initiation Verse

In the new year, the crimson horse greets the color-tinted clouds;
Noble steeds of the Chan Hall return to their familial homes.
First, steady the reigns in the place of stillness;
Then, turn the bridle toward the horizon of awareness.
The whip’s shadow cuts the void, leaving no trace;
The clatter of hooves strikes the ground, manifesting this very life.
Cause and effect are mutually penetrating, leading back to the true abode;
The steed’s neigh rides the wind, pervading the blossoms of awakening.

Good cultivators, for this Chan-Seven Initiation, how does the last verse go?
Reigns steadied and bridle turned, yet not a trace remains,
Before your mother gave you birth, who was it that held the whip?

With the seven-day retreat complete, you leave the Chan Hall;
Noble steeds, heading home, gallop toward the eight directions.
Steady steps are not to seek the old, familiar paths,
And every turning is but to accord with a new realm.
Hooves and whip-shadows fly together in unison;
Traces and echoes vanish into the infinite void.
Vow to follow the Horse King flying across the sea,
Forever serving as a vessel for all sentient beings.

Good cultivators, for the completion of this Chan-Seven, how does the

Raise the whip to awaken the face not born of the mother,
As the spring breezes gently sweep the earth, home of dragons and

中台禪寺一百一十五年度新春活動報導

欣逢農曆新年，本寺於一百一十五年二月十七日（農曆正月初一），舉行「新春合禮團拜法會」。本山法師及護法居士、來寺遊客齊集大雄寶殿、四天王殿，六百餘人共同參與莊嚴隆重的新春法會，以恭敬心唱讚誦經、同沐佛恩，開啟光明新歲。

上午十時，在清淨莊嚴的〈寶鼎讚〉梵音中，住持見穎大和尚領眾共修，諷誦《心經》、〈讚佛偈〉，並至誠頂禮十方諸佛菩薩及歷代祖師。會中，大和尚卓柱杖宣說新春團拜法語，與會四眾一心諦聽，共同祈願世界和平、國泰民安，法界有情同證菩提。

新春佳節，中台園區處處洋溢著喜慶。海內外四眾弟子，於農曆除夕至大年初二，踴躍回山拜年歡喜圍爐、共賀新春；來寺大眾，歡欣地巡禮園林景緻及莊嚴殿堂，禮敬佛像、獻供植福、叩鐘發願。在新春賀歲之際，於中台佛國淨土中，共增福慧，迎接新的一年，駿馬乘願行人間，覺光常在照大千。

2026 Chinese New Year Prostration Ceremony

赤馬騰雲開新辰 覺光破暗顯家珍
Leaping through clouds, the crimson horse heralds a new beginning;
Breaking the darkness, the light of awareness reveals our inner treasure.

清音梵唱傳心印 同悲共願渡迷津
The pure sounds of chanting impart the mind-seal;
With shared compassion and common vows, we cross the sea of ignorance.

福慧圓明相資淳 自他利樂本來親
Merit and wisdom, radiant and complete, mutually enrich one another;
Self and others, benefited and joyful, share their original affinity.

慧光常照無來去 萬法隨緣妙法身
The light of wisdom shines forever, neither coming nor going;
All dharmas, in accord with conditions, manifest the wondrous Dharma body.

馬年新春，大眾同聚釋迦佛前禮祖團拜。值此世局紛擾、人心未安之際，我等至誠仰祈三寶、開山祖師慈悲護佑，令吾等策發道心，回歸本具光明心地。
In this New Year of the Horse, the assembly gathers before Shakyamuni Buddha to prostrate together and pay homage to the patriarchs. In this time of worldly turmoil and unsettled hearts, we sincerely pray for the compassionate protection and guidance of the Three Jewels and the Founding Patriarch. May we be inspired to strengthen our resolve for the Way and return to the inherently luminous ground of our mind-nature.

今年適逢開山祖師圓寂十週年，亦值中台開山三十五週年。大眾佛前聚首，非但追思緬懷，更以知恩報恩之忱，依三環一體為修行根本——以福德資糧厚植善行，以教理正見確立方向，以禪定覺照穩固身心，承續中台宗門慧命，亦使菩提大道穩健長遠。
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Founding Patriarch’s passing into nirvana and the 35th anniversary of the establishment of Chung Tai. As the
assembly gathers before the Buddha, we do so not only in memorial and remembrance, but with a vow to repay our debt of gratitude. We take the Three Links as the root of our cultivation—planting deep seeds of virtue through meritorious service, establishing right view through scripture study, and stabilizing our body and mind through meditation and reflection. In this
way, we continue the wisdom-life of the Chung Tai lineage and ensure the great path of bodhi remains firm and enduring.

諸位行者，當知覺性不離當念，慧光原在日用。於行住坐臥中，外現清淨三業、和合無礙，是為外現聲聞身；內契覺光、守護心宗，是為內密無上印；於一切緣中不捨眾生、行自他兩利佛事，是為身行菩薩道、廣度諸有情。如是內外一如，自能安人心、護正法，為動盪世間作清涼功德。
Good cultivators, you should know that intrinsic awareness is not separate from this present mind. The light of wisdom is found within daily life. To manifest purity in the three karmas, acting with harmony and free of hindrance, while walking, standing, sitting, or lying down, is to “manifest outwardly as a shravaka.” To inwardly realize the light of awareness and abide in the principle of mind is to “accord inwardly with the unsurpassed seal.” To never abandon sentient beings under any conditions and perform the buddha work of benefitting both self and others is to “practice unwaveringly the bodhisattva way” and “liberate all sentient beings.” When internal and external are thus unified, we can naturally settle the hearts of people, protect the True Dharma, and serve as a source of pure merit for this turbulent world.

願我等於紛亂中不昧慧照，於行履中常住悲願；有願無迷，有行無退。以斯功德，回向世界息諍離災，法界有情同證菩提。
May we, amid this chaos, never obscure the light of wisdom and in our daily conduct, always abide in our compassionate vows. May we make great vows
without delusion; may our practice never regress. We dedicate these merits to a world free from conflict and disaster, where all sentient beings in the Dharma realm realize bodhi together.

駿馬乘願行人間，覺光常在照大千。
The noble steed traverses the human realm, borne by vows;
