I've posted the "Flight Notes" forms I use on my kneeboard in case anyone wants to use them. Print them double-sided and cut down the middle. I have one for IFR and one for VFR. You can get them here: www.ontheglideslope.net/2025/09/26/my-vfr-and-ifr-…
I'm unable to post at @t at the moment so I will post an update here. In Nov. 2020 I rebuilt the sim panel to reflect very closely the Cirrus SR-20s and SR-22s I was flying in real life. In doing so I added the G1000 suite, GFC500 autopilot, GMA350 audio panel, and Cirrus switch panel from RealSimGear (@t) and the side stick from Noble Flight Simulations (@t. I recommend both. I also built a center console, 3D-printed flap, throttle, and mixture handles, and added Arduino boards and some switches and LEDs so that the fuel pump switch and flap handle worked as they do in the real aircraft. All this meant losing the right seat, but I plan to add a simple side stick on that side (from Logitech, likely), so we can fly two. But I need narrower chairs, as the middle console takes up space.
I’ve been getting quite a few emails and comments asking if all is OK. It is. I just moved on from being as focused on the sim and the channel as I had been. I passed my IFR check ride a few years ago, and most of my flying time (real or virtual) was then devoted to pursuing my commercial license. I made the decision to stop flying a little over a year ago, though. It’s not something my family really enjoyed, so we could not do it together, and it became a pretty expensive personal hobby. So we turned to sailing, which everyone likes! It’s not the same as flying, but I enjoy it and the family enjoys it too. I have noticed that the website is down. It’s probably been hacked, so I’m looking into getting it back online. In the meantime, thanks for all the support and I’m glad folks have enjoyed the channel. The sim does still exist. In fact, not long before I stopped flying I converted it to be a very accurate Cirrus SR-22 cockpit as that is what I was flying in real life. Who knows — it may make an appearance here some day soon. Fair weather, clear skies (and following seas) to everyone.
Hello and thanks for stopping by. If you want to learn more about the Basement Simulator or my VR flying, please visit www.ontheglideslope.net/. Full system specs are in the "What's In The Sim" tab, and there are how tos, schematics, a Q&A page, and more.
If you leave a comment on a video, note that I am at times unable to reply in a timely manner, and at other times unable to reply at all, given constraints on my time and my other priorities. But I will do my best, and thanks for watching.
