Dr Chinwe Umegbolu is a Law Lecturer at KU & a #judge for the British Podcast Awards & a fellow of the ABA Dispute Resolution (23).
The Award-winning EVA show simplifies the Traditional African Method of Settling Disputes /Appropriate Methods /Multi-Door Courthouse. The aim is to normalise these informal methods worldwide as the means of settling disputes via #mediation, #arbitration, collaborative law, Ombuds, RJ etc. ADR is an appropriate method to litigation. Recent research (Umegbolu 2021) depicts that ADR mediation is cheaper, faster & more flexible than #litigation. Besides that, disputes escalate more under litigation (Umegbolu 21). Do not short-change yourself; insist on #adr
EVA has successfully interviewed several world-renowned leading experts in the legal profession & ADR from different jurisdictions like Ken Cloke, Adeyinka Aroyewun, Kehinde Aina, Prof Bryan Clark, Prof David Larson, Prof Susan Blake, Prof Emilia Onyema, David Hoffman & Kevin Scudder amongst others.

📌My prayers and thoughts are with the innocent souls (forty-five children, principal and staff taken from the classroom/ school for over two weeks) kidnapped by bandits in my home country, Nigeria, Oyo State.
Please, Lord Jesus Christ, show them mercy and bring them back to their families.
Please put them in your prayers.

📌Pray Without Ceasing: A Bit About My Faith Inspired by @RealCharlieKirk – Dr Chinwe Egbunike-Umegbolu.
The first step toward spiritual decline often begins with a gradual distance from the word of God. When a person stops reading the bible, or never begins at all, they become more vulnerable to fear, confusion, doubt, and misplaced priorities.
This distance is often accompanied by subtle isolation, drifting away from friends and family who nurture faith, and a growing closeness with influences that neither honour God nor encourage spiritual growth.
Left unchecked, this shift can weaken spiritual discernment and open the door to moral compromise. Then comes fear, arguably one of the most powerful forces working against faith. It appears as anxiety, doubt, hopelessness, and despair.
Fear clouds judgment, stalls progress, and distracts from purpose, making it harder to walk confidently in God’s plan.
Yet, God, in his wisdom and love, grants us free will. He allows us to encounter a wide spectrum of people and experiences, not to harm us, but to refine us, strengthen our faith, and guide us toward truth. Every interaction presents a choice to move closer to God or move further away.
Scripture reminds us that the forces of darkness are real and that spiritual vigilance is essential.
Lending credence to the above is 1 Peter 5:8, which stipulates “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
Conversely, John 10:10 warns “the thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” These passages underscore the reality of spiritual opposition and the need for discernment; without grounding in faith and in the word of God, it becomes easier to be influenced by voices that lead us astray. Yet, this is not a call to live in fear.
On the contrary, 2 Timothy 1:7 assures us that “God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” The call, therefore, is not to fear, but to awareness, steadfastness, and spiritual discipline anchored in truth, guided by faith, and strengthened through prayer.
The response is simple, though not always easy, to remain rooted in prayer.
Seek God consistently, engage with scripture intentionally and with people who genuinely seek God. These are not mere rituals, but spiritual disciplines that fortify the mind, steady the heart, and illuminate the path forward.
Prayer is not just communication with God, it is alignment with his will. And in that alignment, there is fullness of joy, clarity, and peace that surpasses all understanding.
Sending love, peace, light, hope and faith,
C x
