When I see kids that are failing nearly every class and they talk about how they are working with a trainer those two things don't add up. If you don't get yourself back to a tutor and get your homework done‼️ Some of these kids are severely underperforming in the classroom and still chasing hoop dreams and are not even that good at basketball. Once you graduate high school and you're not that good at basketball and could barely pass a class then what? And parents please start paying attention to your kid's academic success. Stop just telling them to do better and start being an everyday active participant in their success. Just because your kids are tall and older doesn't mean they are not still kids. If you have noticed kids still think kike kids not matter bow tall they get. Adults need to be more available in these kids' lives and stop allowing kids to ruin their future opportunities by making horrible decisions today. Check on your kids grades. Communicate with their teachers regularly. Map out a plan for success and stop allowing kids to guess and figure it out alone. #dobetter #classroombeforethebasketballcourt #studentathlete #hardtruth

I hear players and parents say this all the time. One thing I never hear them say is what they are doing or not doing to solve these issues. I've had players go to play high school basketball and say their coach isn't fair. I told them fair is not in the coach's job description. Their job is to help the team win games. What are you doing to help them achieve that? Instead of looking at others as the problem looks at yourself for the solutions. The only person that owes you anything is you. If you're not getting the desired outcome you're probably using your energy for the wrong things. Redirect your energy to the actual goals and you achieve the desired outcome you want. #solutions #accountability #work #energy

The good news is I’ve had far more conversations with players that made their high school teams. Many even made their varsity teams for their schools. However, the reality is not every kid will earn a roster spot. I’ve talked to a few kids that were cut during tryouts or on the final day of tryouts. Many of them said they want to put in the work to get ready for next season. But now comes the true test. 365 days is a long time to be consistent. If you fight for the next year to get ready for the 2023 tryouts you’ll have the opportunity to try out again as a better player. But if this is what you want you’ve got to start now and take this seriously. Work so hard for the next 365 that the coaches can’t say no. Just make sure you’re doing the right work, stay committed, and don't quit. This is the real test of who you are.
