Why you started writing.
Why you love to write.
Why you love this book.
If your writing and marketing schedule is out of sync with your values, it might be time to make a change.
Success isn’t one-size-fits-all.
Trad, indie, hybrid. Fast or slow. One book a month or one every few years. Go at your own pace and stop comparing timelines.
The 80/20 rule is non-negotiable.
If you’re spending all your time marketing and not writing, you’re a content creator, not an author. Go write the book.
Most income will come from a small portion of your books. If you want better results, don’t panic and tweak. Build a backlist. Write more stories.
Have realistic expectations. One book won’t make you full time. Progress comes from consistency, not perfection.
Read. Rest. Protect your creative well. Burnout and writer’s block show up fast when you don’t.
You don’t need a perfect book. You need the best book you can write right now. Improvement comes with every story.

All of my books are filled with high-stakes battles, rebellion, elemental powers, and characters who refuse to cave to the villains—even in the most heartbreaking moments.
➡️Spice level? Sweet & slow-burn romance that stays clean... but nothing beyond a swoony kiss.
➡️Violence level? High-stakes battles, arena fights, and rebellion... but nothing overly graphic or gory.
➡️Language level? None. Not ever. Just a few in-world derogatory terms used by the villains.
My books are a movie rating of PG-13 and focus on powerful themes of hope, sacrifice, and overcoming impossible odds.
But I also believe in transparency. So here are the themes you may encounter:
💔 Loss of family and friends
🖤 Manipulation and grooming (referenced, never graphic)
⚔️ Battles with weapons and elemental powers (including arena combat)
⛓ Imprisonment and captivity
🧠 Mind control
🌍 Discrimination, systemic oppression, and abuse of marginalized characters
👱♀️ These characters start as older teens and grow into their early twenties.
✨ I handle these topics with care, never for shock value — always with the goal of showing resilience and healing.

My name is Sara Wright, and I write clean, high-stakes dystopian fantasy books with no-spice romantic subplots.
What's Dystopian Fantasy?
For me, it means futuristic kingdoms on the brink of collapse, with fantasy elements like royalty or elemental powers.
What do I mean by “clean”?
Sometimes, people hear "clean" and assume it means boring… but that’s far from the truth.
My books are packed with high-stakes fantasy action, which means some characters will not make it to the end of the story. 💀 However, I don’t write overly gratuitous descriptions or include any explicit language in my books. It’s on par with a PG-13 movie similar to The Hunger Games.
At maximum, there are only light descriptions in the kissing scenes, focusing more on how the character is feeling rather than the physicality of the moment.
What age group are my books for?
Upper YA/NA readers who would rather do without the gore, spice, or explicit language. Younger teens and older adults can enjoy them too!

👋 Meet the Author Sara Wright . . .
Hi, I write YA dystopian fantasy novels full of high-stakes adventure, strong heroines, and worlds on the brink of chaos.
But you'll never find explicit gore, language, or spice in my books.
My story:
I've always had a huge imagination, telling stories to my best friends (aka my stuffed animals) around the make believe campfire I built.
At some point, I convinced myself that I hated reading and writing. This is funny because I was writing lyrics to popular songs about Looney Tunes characters in the sixth grade. 😅
It wasn't until my choir/English teacher taught us about creative writing that I fell in love with reading and writing again. I devoured fantasy novels after that.
After over a decade of working as a bookkeeper, I eventually published my first novel . . . With a little help from my family. 😁
