PUTRAJAYA, 14 September 2026 — Congratulations to Fakulti Teknologi Kejuruteraan (FTK), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) for winning 2nd Place in the Academic Category at the 2nd 4D Malaysia BIM Day 2026, held at Kompleks Perbadanan Putrajaya.
This proud achievement was announced at the BIM Malaysia Appreciation Award Dinner, officiated by YB Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Maslan, Deputy Minister of Works. The competition saw fierce rivalry among 10 finalist teams from Malaysia's leading universities, showcasing exceptional dedication, competitive spirit, and talent.
This achievement places UTHM among the nation's top 3, alongside Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 1st place and Universiti Malaya (UM) in 3rd — highlighting the strength of FTK students in Building Information Modelling (BIM) and construction industry digital technology.
Themed "BIM Beyond Design", UTHM was represented by two Year 3 FTK students, Muhammad Hidayat Fikri bin Asmrad and Muhammad Haziq Hafizie bin Ruzaimi, under the supervision of Prof. Madya Ts. Dr. Peniel Ang Soon Ern.
The 4D BIM competition challenged participants to apply an integrated approach to digital construction, requiring mastery of industry-standard platforms including Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Navisworks, Bentley SYNCHRO 4D, and Primavera P6/Microsoft Project — combining BIM modelling integration, model coordination, construction sequence planning and simulation, and project scheduling.
According to FTK Dean, Prof. Madya Ts. Dr. Jumadi bin Abdul Shukor, this success reflects FTK students' continuous excellence, marking the third consecutive year of national-level BIM competition achievement. This proves students' capability in mastering BIM technology and project management, aligned with the industry digitalisation agenda — further strengthened by university coursework and competency certification that boosts graduate identity, skills, and employability.
