💜 NEWLY SHARED: A TEA PARTY ROOTED IN COURAGE, RECOVERY AND HOPE

The Princess of Wales welcomed fellow Three Peaks Challenge participants and their families to Windsor Castle for an intimate tea gathering held last week.

This was about far more than reaching the summit of three mountains. Around that table were people whose climbs carried deeply personal meaning—stories of illness, recovery, resilience, determination and love.

Earlier this summer, Catherine climbed Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Yr Wyddfa in support of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, where she received treatment following her own cancer diagnosis. After everything she had endured, completing such a demanding challenge became a moving symbol of gratitude, renewed strength and life beyond diagnosis.

But what touches me most is what Catherine chose to do afterward.

She did not allow the story to remain centred on her own achievement. Instead, she welcomed other participants and their families into Windsor Castle, sat with them over tea and listened to the deeply personal reasons behind their journeys.

In doing so, she honoured not only those who reached the summits, but also the loved ones who encouraged them, supported them and walked beside them through every difficult step.

Some mountains are made of rock. Others take the form of illness, grief, fear or the long and uncertain road of recovery. We may have to take each step ourselves, but very few of us reach the summit alone.

There is something especially poignant about Catherine—following her own difficult journey—creating a warm and intimate space where courage could be recognised, families could be thanked and personal stories could be heard.

No grand stage was necessary. Just tea, conversation, compassion and the understanding of someone who knows that healing is rarely a straight or solitary path.

A beautiful reminder that strength is not found only in climbing. It is also found in accepting help, continuing when life feels impossibly steep and reaching back to encourage someone making their own way upward. 💜⛰️☕

💚 NEW TODAY: THE PRINCESS OF WALES PUTS RECOVERY AND COMPASSION AT THE HEART OF HER LATEST ENGAGEMENT

The Princess of Wales visited Forward Growing at Garon Park in Southend, Essex, today as part of Addiction Awareness Week.

Catherine has served as Royal Patron of The Forward Trust since 2021. The social justice charity supports people recovering from addiction or moving away from crime, helping them rebuild their lives through treatment, practical guidance and a supportive community.

During today’s engagement, Catherine met people supported by the charity’s Southend Treatment and Recovery Service and heard about the role that nature, creativity and human connection can play throughout recovery.

Forward Growing was created through a partnership between The Forward Trust and Garon Park. Its gardening sessions give participants an opportunity to spend time outdoors, develop practical skills, build confidence and connect with others in a welcoming environment. The partnership also supports walking and creative activities, with plans to establish a dedicated gardening space for recovery, learning and community involvement.

The programme creates something equally important: connection, community and a sense of belonging.

One of the most touching moments from today’s engagement was Catherine sharing a warm embrace with a participant. It captured the compassion and humanity at the heart of her visit. Recovery is not simply about leaving something behind—it is also about rebuilding a life with dignity, encouragement and hope. 💚🌿

Catherine looked effortlessly elegant in a checked blazer as she sat and listened attentively, allowing the people present and their experiences to remain at the centre of the engagement.

A meaningful visit and an important reminder that those facing addiction deserve understanding, support and the opportunity to begin again.

💜 ROYAL GLAMOUR MEETS HOLLYWOOD

The Prince and Princess of Wales joined Tom Cruise for the Royal Film Performance world premiere of Digger in London tonight—and what a magnificent evening it was. 👑🎬

Tom warmly welcomed William and Catherine before walking alongside them into the cinema. In another gentlemanly moment, he offered Catherine his hand as they made their way inside, continuing the lovely friendship we first witnessed at the Top Gun: Maverick premiere in 2022.

The star-studded evening also brought together David Beckham and Digger director Alejandro González Iñárritu, who joined William, Catherine and Tom for a wonderful group photograph.

Catherine looked breathtaking in a flowing purple chiffon gown by Jenny Packham, featuring a beautifully gathered neckline, sheer billowing sleeves and a dramatic train.

But the true historic treasure was resting around her neck.

Catherine wore the Queen Mother’s Amethyst Sautoir Necklace—a magnificent creation of seed pearls, diamonds and amethysts, centred by a romantic heart-shaped amethyst pendant.

Queen Alexandra presented the necklace to Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, the future Queen Mother, as a wedding gift in 1923. More than a century later, Catherine has brought this rarely seen royal heirloom back into the spotlight. 💜

William looked incredibly handsome in his black velvet dinner jacket, while Tom and David brought unmistakable star power to the royal premiere.

🍿👑 THE PRINCE OF POPCORN!

Prince William visited ActOne in Acton, West London, where he celebrated the talent of the British film industry and the remarkable community spirit behind independent cinemas.

ActOne officially opened in 2021 after more than 100 volunteers helped clear, clean and paint the historic former Passmore Edwards Library. The building has since been transformed into an independent two-screen cinema, café and community space.

During his visit, the Prince of Wales met the team behind ActOne and spoke with young local filmmakers who have been supported in creating and releasing their own films.

William also stepped behind the counter to serve popcorn and snacks to surprised moviegoers—even apologising for being a little slow on the till! 😂🍿

A lighthearted moment with a meaningful purpose—and the perfect beginning to a special day celebrating British film.

Dear William,

There are moments when silence is mistaken for an absence of feeling. When composure is mistaken for strength without sorrow. When people look at a face, see no tears, and decide they understand the heart behind it.

But they do not.

You were only fifteen years old when your mother died. You were a child carrying an unimaginable loss while the entire world watched—studying your face, observing your every movement and expecting you to grieve publicly during the most painful moment of your young life.

Nearly three decades later, people are still trying to tell that frightened and heartbroken boy what he felt.

They compare the grief of two brothers. They decide who suffered more. They interpret expressions, rank pain and speak as though one child’s visible anguish somehow erased the other child’s silent heartbreak.

But grief is not a competition.

There is no correct way for a child to mourn his mother. There is no expression William should have worn, no number of tears he was required to shed and no public breakdown he owed the world as proof that he loved her.

Your grief was never ours to measure, compare or explain. It was yours.

Perhaps you learned very early to place your feelings somewhere private because privacy was one of the few things fame had not already taken from you. Perhaps remaining composed was the only way you knew how to survive a day no child should ever have been asked to face before millions of strangers.

Whatever lived inside your heart belonged to you.

You have spent much of your life watching other people tell your story. They have discussed your childhood, your parents, your marriage, your brother, your father and even your most painful memories—as though being born into public life meant surrendering ownership of your own heart.

Yet you continued.

You built a family filled with love and laughter. You became a devoted husband and the protective father of three beautiful children. You have worked to give them the security, privacy and ordinary childhood moments that were so often denied to you.

You stood beside Catherine during the most frightening chapter of your marriage. You remained present for your children while carrying responsibilities that never paused simply because your family was hurting. You have supported your father through illness while preparing for a future filled with extraordinary expectations.

And through it all, you continued to serve.

That does not mean you never struggled. It does not mean you never cried behind closed doors or wished the weight could be lifted from your shoulders. It simply means that your pain has never been public property.

William, you do not owe anyone a performance of grief.

You do not have to explain how deeply you loved your mother. You do not have to prove that the boy who stood before the world was hurting. You do not have to defend the way you survived.

The world may remember the solemn young prince, but today we also see the man he became: a loving husband, a devoted father, a loyal son and a future king who has chosen to transform personal pain into compassion for others.

So today, this letter is not about the voices speaking around you.

It is about you.

The boy who deserved privacy.
The son who deserved tenderness.
The man who deserves the dignity of owning his own story.

You held their hands. You shared their laughter. You listened to their stories without rushing them. You gave attention to work that may never dominate international headlines, yet has the power to transform real lives.

That quiet sincerity is what makes your service so special.

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, you have never needed to demand the spotlight. Your compassion speaks for you. Your consistency speaks for you. The dignity and kindness with which you serve speak louder than any headline ever could.

The Duchess of Edinburgh began the final day of her visit to Zambia at Mukuni Rural Health Centre, returning to a cause that has remained especially close to her heart throughout many years of royal service: protecting people from avoidable blindness.

Sophie met patients, healthcare workers, community volunteers and representatives from Sightsavers who are supporting Zambia’s progress towards eliminating trachoma.

Trachoma is an infectious eye disease that can spread through personal contact, contaminated clothing or flies. Repeated infections can cause painful scarring inside the eyelid and, without treatment, may eventually lead to permanent blindness. Yet with early treatment, improved sanitation, community education and access to appropriate healthcare, it can be prevented.

During her visit, the Duchess toured the health centre and listened as medical professionals explained how the programme operates within local communities. She also sat with patients and community members, taking time to hear directly from those whose lives are being protected through this important work.

Zambia’s progress is the result of government leadership combined with the dedication of healthcare workers, volunteers and local communities—people working together so that fewer families face the devastating consequences of preventable sight loss.

The Duchess of Edinburgh concluded the fourth day of her visit to Zambia with a joyful and energetic afternoon at Maramba Primary School in Livingstone.

Sophie received an unforgettable welcome from the pupils, whose excitement, smiles and enthusiasm filled the school grounds. She spent time speaking with the children, watching them demonstrate their games and even trying her hand at netball—bringing plenty of laughter and encouragement along the way.

During the visit, the Duchess met representatives from Sport in Action, Zambia’s first sports-focused non-governmental organisation. Founded in 1998, the organisation uses sport and recreation to help educate and empower young people while promoting health, gender equality and greater social inclusion.

Its programmes also create safe spaces where children can build confidence, develop leadership skills and learn how teamwork and physical activity can contribute to stronger, healthier communities.

Sophie listened as pupils and coordinators explained how sport is being used as a powerful force for positive change. Whether she was joining a game, cheering on the students or simply listening to their experiences, her warmth and genuine interest were clear to see.

It was a beautiful conclusion to a deeply meaningful day—one that began with remembrance, continued through the history and natural wonder of Victoria Falls, celebrated Zambia’s rich cultural heritage and ended by looking towards the country’s future through its young people.
