[UPDATE: The issue has been resolved! As TeaKanji (as well as a few other people) pointed out, the problem was caused by my controller being mapped to both ports. To fix it, all I had to do was set Controller Port 2 to 'Not Connected' in PCSX2's settings. I have no memory of setting it in the first place, but if you have a similar problem hopefully this should resolve it]

So if anyone's familiar with PCSX2, I need a little help. I've encountered a strange issue when emulating GT4 that I can't fix.

Basically, when navigating in the options menu (and no other menu) any directional input moves the cursor two spaces instead of one. This means that certain options are inaccessible and it's virtually impossible to do something like remap my control scheme. This isn't a problem for my existing saves, where I have everything set how I want, but is really annoying when creating new ones.

Weirdly, this issue affects every major version of GT4 (NTSC-U, NTSC-J, PAL) and even Tourist Trophy which I was planning to start a playthrough of. Looking online I've found almost no information about this, other than a two year old thread on the PCSX2 forums - but there are no replies. (forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-GT4-Menu-issues-and-PNACH-…)

PCSX2 updates have a habit of breaking stuff occasionally, and I just assumed this was another case of that as it only started happening a couple months ago. At the time I assumed it would be fixed in another update, but it hasn't. And since nobody else has raised it as an issue, I guess the problem is on my end, but I have no idea what could be causing it.

Any advice would be appreciated!

(Also, off topic, but yes I am aware of the GT7 Power Pack DLC, yes I will play it, and yes I will share my thoughts on it some point)

So, I'm aware that there's quite a few people who like racing games, but aren't really super interested in cars or racing in general. I'm also aware that some of them watch my videos. If you're one of these people, then the following question is directed towards you.

What do you get out of playing racing games?

This is a topic I've always been interested in. For people like me who are obsessed with cars I think the appeal is obvious, but what about the average gamer? What specifically draws you in that you simply can't get with other genres of games? - whether that be the latest releases, or classic titles. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

Also, unrelated, but thanks for the support on my latest video about FWD performance cars (https://youtu.be/qw_Vonzraoc) I didn't expect such a positive response, but I've really enjoyed hearing about your own FWD experiences, and the many great cars you've driven and owned!

Hey guys, just a quick note to say that Tomorrow's video is gonna be delayed to Thursday (April 3rd).

There's a couple of reasons for this: 1 - I'm away from home right now so I can't get the render done until I get back, but also 2 - I don't want people to think it might be an April fools.

I hope you guys understand, but trust me it's a good one and I think it should be worth the extra wait...

Fifty Thousand Subscribers.

Almost two years to the day that I uploaded my first proper video on GT7, the channel has achieved this incredible milestone. Thank you to everyone who's joined me on this journey so far - I hope things can get even better!

But, how should we celebrate 50K? Well over the past few months I've thought long and hard about it and came up with a plan. Instead of giving you guys a special video - I'll give you an entire series!

I'm very happy to announce 'Gran Turismo Origins' - my personal retrospective into the golden era of Gran Turismo. Back when I was making my 'GT Critique' series breaking down the many issues with GT7, I got a few suggestions to do something similar with the older games. Of course, as I generally like those games a lot more, a series in the same vein as GT Critique wouldn't really work.

However, the idea of a no-nonsense retrospective where I breakdown each game started to really grow on me. Since I started making videos I've been playing through the first 6 Gran Turismo games again in my own time - something which I finally finished around the middle of last year.

As many of you know I consider this series to have two distinct phases. 'Phase 1' makes up GT1 - 6, whereas as 'Phase 2' is GT Sport, GT7 and beyond. To me there's a clear distinction between these eras, as the priorities of the series shifted massively. What I aim to do with GT Origins is to fully cover Phase 1 with each episode focussing on one of those first 6 games.

From the birth of the franchise - right through to its transition into Phase 2 - this series has a really interesting story to tell and each game plays its own unique role. Not only will we analyse the actual content and design of these games, but also look at how they're perceived - both in current day and back when they were new. We'll compare each of these games to understand what impact they had on the series long-term, and how they reflect the goals and desires of the people who made them.

I could go on but I don't want this post to be any longer than it already is. The bottom line is that I hope to make GT Origins the most comprehensive Gran Turismo retrospective on YouTube. Hopefully you've been able to get the gist of my idea, but if not, then the first episode releasing on 21st January should explain everything.

Each of the 6 games (GT1 - 6) will get their own dedicated episode, and my plan is to release one video a month through the first half of the year - of course starting with the original Gran Turismo.

Once again, thank you guys so much for 50K (and the support on my latest video!)

Let's make 2025 even better 🏁

This time tomorrow I'll be uploading my final video of the year and it's actually a type of video that I've never made before! Intro is already up on Patreon (www.patreon.com/posts/preview-for-24-118423739) but for the rest of you guys I'll leave this small teaser. Any guesses? πŸ€”

I'm starting work on a new project that I'm hoping to kick off in the new year, but to help me with that I need to do a bit of research - and that's where you guys come in. I've created a poll where you can vote for your favourite Gran Turismo game (strawpoll.com/wAg3QEdBly8)

This only includes the 8 mainline titles (including Sport) so please only answer if you have a decently strong opinion on this. I also want to say that no matter which game you pick there are no wrong answers - please don't feel pressured into choosing a different game just because you think your opinion might be unpopular.

Part of the reason why I'm doing this is because I want to see the community's honest thoughts when it comes to these games. So considering that, if you also want to leave a comment explaining your choice then you're more than welcome to!

The poll runs until the end of the year and I've hidden the results for now. But don't worry, I will share them - and the details of my new project - with you all in the near future πŸ˜‰

Hey guys!

I've been really happy to see people enjoying my last two videos. I said a few months back that I wanted to experiment with shorter weekly videos and I think it's gone quite well. Doing this means I've been able to cover some interesting topics that wouldn't normally warrant a 'full length' video. I've got a few more videos like them planned, so expect to see more in the future!

That said, next Tuesday we return to the normal format, and we also return to real life racing. Much like my videos on the JLOC Diablo and Honda HSV, it focusses on an unusual race car that became somewhat legendary, but its story is rarely ever covered in full. I'm super excited to release this one because I think it's one of my best ever, but I'll let you guys decide for yourselves πŸ˜‰

Thanks as always πŸ‘

All-new Gran Turismo video coming tomorrow - and it's a BIG ONE!

It's a project that I've had in my head for well over a year now, but only recently have I had the means to make it exactly as I want to.

As far as I'm aware, nobody has tried to do something like it on this scale before, so it's definitely one of my most ambitious videos.

I can't wait to share it with you all this time tomorrow! 🏁

On this day - 24th July 2024 - this channel has just achieved an incredible milestone. My massive 'GT Critique' video essay where I breakdown everything that I dislike about Gran Turismo 7 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzhOb...), has just hit 1 MILLION VIEWS πŸŽ‰

If you had told me back in November 2022 - when I first had the idea to make that series, back when I had never even edited a video before - that this would one day be the end result, I would've said you were clinically insane. Yet, here we are.

It's so clichΓ© by this point, but I really want to thank each and every one of you for making this possible. Whether you're one of the few who've been around since the early days at the beginning of last year, or someone who's just found my channel, to me it's always an honour to have people watch and enjoy what I make.

At the end of the day it may just be an arbitrary number, but it's still a special feeling. Lots of channels have videos with 1M+ views, but to achieve it on a meticulous 3 and a half hour video essay is something that I can take real pride from. Even if I achieve nothing else in my life, I can always say I did this lol πŸ˜‚

Anyway, thanks for the support, the likes and the comments - not just on this video but everything I do. It's onwards and upwards from here ✌

Have a good one
