Sweating the Small Stuff

Just a couple of shaky hands trying to make things.

Sweating the Small Stuff

Help me decide! I’m gonna try to do #BigBotBash again this year and sketched up three ideas based on my D20 rolls. I’m leaning towards making 2 or 3, but let me know what you think. Here’s a quick little blurb for each bot:

1) ROBO-RANGER - A mechanical guardian of the woodland realm, this big boy has seen a lot of action, including the loss of one eye (which has caused a bit of a “growth” problem of late). Robo-Ranger wears a mossy cape and antlers as a means of camouflage and intimidation (respectively).

2) PLUTONI-BOT - In a world reclaimed by nature, this bot was once charged with transporting plutonium rods from one science facility to another. In the decades since, mycelial indoctrination has reprogrammed her to find sticks and bones more worthy of transport than man’s erstwhile pursuits of nuclear power.

3) SKULL-BACK - No one knows why this little bot has strapped a human skull to its back; some say it’s a war trophy, while others think it’s the skull of its former master. Still others believe the Skull-Back is taking this human remnant to its final resting place, wherever that might be...

Thanks, ‪@BillMakingStuff‬, for hosting this fun challenge three years on!

Sweating the Small Stuff

Nothing like a stern warning to inspire creativity! This morning, I got an email from YouTube telling me they would revoke my Partnership Program status unless I made a new video within the next 30 days, so… I guess it’s time to make a new video! What would y’all like to see next?? Specific ideas welcome!

Got another big(ish) TMNT custom project in the works involving all four Turtles! The question is, would you rather see them released one Turtle at a time (as usual), or wait a bit longer for one long epic video? Hint: Fortnite may be in the mix 👀

Sweating the Small Stuff

It's a new year, and I need space for new art! So, I've decided to sell off some of my existing customs, including ALL of my Mutant Mayhem figures, as well as some other pieces from previous videos. For now, I'm just listing these on eBay, so have at 'em!

Hopefully these guys can find a good home and help me fund new projects!

Speaking of which, I've got a couple new videos in the works, the first of which should hopefully be up next Friday, 1/17. From there, I've got even more sculptures and customs planned for the coming weeks! Stay tuned 🤘

Sweating the Small Stuff

In a year where I lost my job and faced other personal challenges—at a time when society has felt steadily bleaker—2024 was, if nothing else, a good year for making. While not as algorithmically "successful" as 2023, Sweating the Small Stuff has continued to be a safe space for me to express myself artistically. To keep these shaky hands busy was to stave off the harsh realities of a year that I suspect some of us would care to forget. So as 2024 comes to a close, I want to thank all my fellow makers out there for striving to bring a little joy and distraction into an increasingly grim and uncertain world. I know I'm constantly inspired by all you do and hope I can return the favor, if even for a few seconds every now and then. Here's wishing you all a Happy—and Creative—New Year 🍻
