On 20 August 2026, Mansi Nimbhal, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Department of Mission Shakti, visited Nilachal Urban Haat, Puri, to explore its potential as a vibrant marketplace for women-led enterprises.
The visit focused on the proposed Subhadra Shakti Bazar, Subhadra Shakti Cafe and pop-up outlets, envisioned to showcase SHG products, expand market access and create new enterprise opportunities for women.
Today, an Expenditure Review Meeting was held at Mission Shakti Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, chaired by Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Pravati Parida.
The meeting reviewed expenditure progress and emphasised the effective and timely utilisation of funds for various departmental initiatives. Senior officials from the Department of Mission Shakti and Odisha Livelihoods Mission were present.
The Department of Mission Shakti, CRISP, and NSE Foundation have signed a Tripartite MoU for #ProjectBLESS. This initiative aims to help prevent distress migration by strengthening sustainable livelihoods.
Nearly 8.81 lakh rural households across 69 blocks in 8 districts will benefit through improved access to livelihood opportunities, skill development, financial services and government schemes.
Dr. Monica Priyadarshini, IAS, Director, Mission Shakti, visited the Manilingeswar Stitching Producer Group, Lanjipalli and Subhadra Shakti Bazar, Berhampur, on 27.07.2026.
During the visit, she interacted with SHG members, reviewed women-led livelihood initiatives, and reaffirmed the Department's commitment to advancing sustainable livelihoods and strengthening women's economic empowerment across Odisha.
Two women entrepreneurs from Ganjam district, Odisha—Mrs. Sangeeta Dalai and Mrs. Jyoti Reddy—have been featured in the CIRDAP Journal (Asia-Pacific) for their exemplary contributions to women-led rural entrepreneurship.
During FY 2025–26, they represented India at the CIRDAP Asia-Pacific Programme, facilitated by NIRDPR. Their inspiring journeys under the Odisha Livelihoods Mission (OLM), with technical support from PRADAN-NSO through the Lakhpati Didi Prototype, exemplify the transformative impact of the Department of Mission Shakti in promoting women's economic empowerment and sustainable livelihoods.
The Department of Mission Shakti has signed a MoU with ICRISAT today at Mission Shakti Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, to strengthening Women Producer Groups for Agro-enterprises, Yield Enhancement and Market-led Livelihoods.
The Partnership will enhance system productivity and empower women’s livelihoods through scientific bio-resource utilization, including biochar production, water hyacinth composting and vegetable grafting innovations.
This will further support in promoting climate-smart farming, capacity building, technology transfer, value addition and market linkages, creating sustainable income opportunities and accelerating the vision of Lakhpati Didis and Maha Lakhpati Didis across Odisha.

The 7th batch of Digi Shakti Training was successfully completed in Gop Block, Puri district, with the participation of 34 Community Resource Persons. The training equips women with essential digital skills to strengthen financial inclusion, digital governance and entrepreneurship, enabling them to further support women across their communities.
