I’ve had this note sitting in my drafts for a while because I was genuinely contemplating whether I should even post it, but honestly, the reactions to this situation have made me want to say it.
The hypocrisy from some ARMYs is actually insane. You dragged Daniella and hated on her for saying Carti was her favorite, but now that BTS attended a concert involving Chris Brown, suddenly it’s “not that deep,” “they probably don’t support him,” or “Rihanna still follows him.” And what exactly is Rihanna following him supposed to prove? Rihanna is not the only person connected to his history of abuse, so using her current social-media activity to dismiss everything else makes no sense. This isn't simply about an idol following someone or having a questionable celebrity interaction. Chris Brown has a documented history of violence and abuse, and BTS have an enormous fandom that often looks to them and follows their lead. What makes the reaction even more frustrating is how some ARMYs constantly describe them as feminists and talk about supporting women, yet the moment the person being criticized is someone they admire, those principles suddenly seem to disappear. You can't loudly preach about believing and supporting victims while simultaneously minimizing or making excuses around a situation involving an artist with a documented history of violence against women. Then there's the whole “fandom cleanse” argument, as if everyone criticizing BTS is suddenly a fake fan who needs to leave. You were perfectly comfortable holding Daniella accountable when it was someone else, but now there are endless excuses, attempts to minimize the situation and people trying to shut down anyone who finds it disturbing. The double standard is painfully obvious. Daniella was dragged for liking a problematic artist, yet when BTS attends his concert, suddenly it's “not that deep.” If you're going to preach accountability, feminism and standing up for women, those values shouldn't disappear the second your own favorites are involved.
"oh bts didn't know" stfu, these are grown men who are online, stop defending these racist 30+year old man, like stop you are embarrassing,"Korea doesn't teach them that" please miss me because this fandom is always preaching about how bts is globally invested watch the armies lose their damn minds in my comment section
