Mark Thornhill Moto

Welcome to Mark Thornhill Moto.

I’ve been riding motorcycles for more than 20 years and hold a RoSPA Gold qualification, but I’m now starting again as a beginner off road.

This channel follows that journey through BMW adventures, Honda Monkey rides, motorcycle camping, practical installs, honest reviews and the occasional challenge that pushes me out of my comfort zone.

Adventure doesn’t have to mean crossing continents. It can be learning a new skill, exploring somewhere new or simply finding an excuse to get out on the bike.

The Monkey and the red balloon represent the idea behind the channel: ordinary people encouraging each other to try something new.

Have a go.

You’ll have seen the Monkey and red balloon appearing on the channel a bit more now.

The Monkey isn’t just about the Honda Monkey bike. It represents anyone willing to have a go, learn as they go, and keep moving forward.

The balloon is the bit of lift we get from bikes, advice, encouragement, friendship, or just a reason to get out for a ride.

I’ll explain the full story properly in a video one day, but for now that’s the heart of it: have a go, keep climbing, pass one on.

I’m planning my first motorcycle camping video, but which bike should I take?

You might start seeing this monkey and red balloon popping up a bit more. 🎈

It started as a bit of a joke around comments sections, motorbike YouTube, and the amount of negativity people throw at anyone trying to build something.

The balloon represents a bit of lift.

Sometimes that lift is what gets you out of your own bucket — bikes, riding, YouTube, creating, training, or just getting out for an hour.

But it can also be the lift you give someone else — a decent comment, a follow, a like, a bit of advice, or just backing someone who’s having a go.

The monkey? Well… I ride a Monkey, so that part wasn’t exactly difficult 😂

There’s a bigger meaning behind it, but I’ll explain that properly soon.

For now: what’s your red balloon?
