Character Profile: Usami Gekkono (Cure Moon)

Usami Gekkono is a 14-year-old human girl and the leader of the Pretty Soldier Precure Sparkle Heart team. Her Japanese name is 月光野うさみ, and her alter ego is Cure Moon. She represents love and justice, and her main theme colors are white and silver, with pink, blue, and yellow as secondary colors. Her birthday is June 20.

**Personality**
Usami is cheerful but clumsy, and she wears her emotions on her sleeve. She cries easily and is very sensitive, but she has an unwavering hope and always sees the good in people—even her enemies. She deeply cares for her friends and family and will do anything to protect them. While she’s kind and courageous, she can also get jealous, annoyed, or frustrated sometimes.

She doesn’t like doing homework and prefers watching anime, reading manga, and drawing. She’s in the art club and is very creative. Her favorite foods are carrots, omelet rice with ketchup, and chocolate cake.

Usami believes everyone deserves love, which makes her trusting and compassionate, but it can sometimes be a flaw.

**Family**
Her parents are Ikuko and Kenji Gekkono, and she has a little sister named Kousagi (Cure Chibi Moon). Her nicknames include Usami-chan, Gekkono-san, Dumpling Head, and Clumsy Girl.

Cure Moon is the emissary of love and justice! Her catchphrases include:

Cure Moon has powers related to moonlight, love, rainbows, and holy light. She can also create powerful vibrations with her Supersonic Cry attack when her crying is amplified.

This is Villager No. 9 reporting with an update on this developing story for Channel 6 News!

During their expedition, a group of primates known as Void Company arrives on a massive, planet-like boulder and steals the Golden Bananas, also known as the Banandium Gems. The boulder then crashes into Ingot Isle, pushing it further into the ground. The impact causes a powerful storm that sends Donkey Kong and the Prospector Monkeys plummeting into the depths below.

After regaining consciousness, Donkey Kong surveys the collapsed remains of Ingot Isle. Suddenly, a strange purple rock entity falls from the sky. Upon investigation, he discovers the being is called the Odd Rock—actually a 13-year-old girl named Pauline from the surface. She decides to join him on his journey.

As they venture through many layers, Void Kong fires Poppy Kong and Grumpy Kong after they redeem themselves. Meanwhile, Harmony Eel is freed from the mind control device planted by Void Company.

In other news, King K. Rool returns to action after nearly 18 years away from the Donkey Kong franchise. He reappears in the Forbidden Layer, where it’s revealed he had been trapped underground while searching for the Banandium Root. Before his entrapment, he had ordered his Kremling Krew to jump into the final sinkhole between the Forbidden Layer and the Planet Core, but was seized by the root just as he was about to follow. This incident blocked the path to the Planet Core.

K. Rool is eventually awakened by Pauline’s singing but is soon confronted by Void Kong, who mistakenly believes K. Rool is the root itself. In retaliation, K. Rool punches Void Kong into his own machine, then turns to face Donkey Kong and Pauline—marking the first-ever interaction between K. Rool and Pauline in the franchise.

K. Rool leaps into the Planet Core, aiming to use the Banandium Root to turn the world into rotten banana mush for his own consumption. Donkey Kong and Pauline chase after him. After a final battle in the core, K. Rool is defeated—but not done.

He uses his Propellerpack to pursue Donkey Kong and Pauline, who had wished on the root to return to the surface. He tries—but fails—to knock them off the banana platform they’re riding. Once the duo reaches New Donk City, K. Rool uses the root to trap the city in Banandium mush and remodel it in his own image.

When Donkey Kong and Pauline confront him in front of New Donk City Hall, K. Rool uses the root’s power to transform into K. Rool, King of Rot. After an epic showdown, he is defeated once more, and the city is finally restored.
