I’m grateful for the experience and excited about future collaborations with KiSA and its amazing members. Here’s to more inspiring discussions, innovation, and growth in STEM!
In 2025 God has taught me to love my body just the way it is. With the stomach that is not quite as flat as I would like, the dimples on my butt and legs and the arms I used to think were saggy. I realized the devil has launched an attack on all women to make you feel like you are ugly, inadequate and imperfect and perhaps that God did not do a great job on you. So I am here to remind you if you have been fighting those thoughts ,that is the voice of the devil and you, yes you have authority over the devil through Jesus Christ. So its time to take authority, speak to that voice that wants you to shrink in fear and that tells you that you are not Good enough. I rebuke you Satan. Get thee behind me in the name of Jesus. God says I am fearfully and wonderfully made. When he looked at his finished work in me God declared it is Good. I am a child of the Almighty God. I am perfect in Christ Jesus. I am beautiful, I am gorgeous, I am the apple of Gods eye. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. Woman of God speak to that voice and command it to leave you in the name of Jesus. You are beautiful just the way you are. Speak it, believe it and act like it. Happy Friday 😊!!!
As I sit here in the quiet of my room on the eve of Thanksgiving 2025, my heart is overflowing. Before the chaos of the holiday begins, I am taking a moment to reflect on the abundance of grace in my life.
First and foremost, I surrender all honor and glory to God, Jehovah Jireh, my Lord and King. Everything I am and everything I possess belongs to Him. I am endlessly grateful to Jesus, my Savior, for the sacrifice of the cross—thank You for loving me fervently, even in moments when I struggled to love myself. And to the Holy Spirit, my Comforter, thank You for walking beside me every single day.
My heart is full when I think of my family. To my Dad, DJR Marime, my best friend and biggest cheerleader—I love you. To my siblings and their beautiful families: Gillian Marime and Victor Abuya, Peter Marime and Deborah Rogito, and James Marime and Elizabeth Mutanu—you are my foundation. You are home. I thank God for you all every day.
I am also profoundly grateful for the people who have become family. Steven Kennedy Ochieng and family, we salute you. You are the true epitome of Jesus’ love on earth, and we are so blessed that God brought you into our lives.
To my friends: To the Juja girls (Winnie Odhiambo, Regina Mugwe, Njeri Mathenge, Salome Kavindu), thank you for being my ride or dies. To my global girls (Aireen Kinyanguli, Monica Arciniega, Priscilla Perotti and the rest of the crew), thank you for your constant presence. And to my cousins—the brothers from another mother—Steve, Obed, Paul, and Ian Ogega and your families, thank you for always keeping a seat at the table for me.
And to my sweet fur babies, Sunshine and Miracle—I love you to bits. You make my life and our home so full of life, and I honestly can't imagine my days without you. Thank You, God, for my cats.
I look at my life. my job, the businesses God has gifted me, and this incredible journey, and I am humbled. I am grateful for my dreams, my discipline, my consistency, my fear of God, my adventurous spirit, and my deep love for humanity. May I always continue to show up for people.
I am thankful simply to be alive, holding onto faith and hope for an amazing future. As God promises in Jeremiah 29:11, He knows the plans He has for me, plans to prosper and not to harm me, plans to give me a hope and a future.
So, as we enjoy the turkeys, gather with family, and shop until we drop, let us not forget to give to the less fortunate, pray without ceasing, and cherish the people that matter.
My story begins not on a map, but in the heart of a small, unlisted village in Kenya. That's where I was born, far from the skyscrapers and corporate campuses.
My childhood was rich in community and resilience, but my early twenties were a different kind of challenge: my bootcamp.
I faced job losses every two years and even worked in places like Dandora, known as one of the world's most dangerous slums.
This wasn't easy; it was a rough, faith-testing preparation school. Yet, those humble roots and tough lessons taught me the value of perseverance, a skill that would later propel me to the halls of ExxonMobil, Amazon, and Microsoft.
Where do your roots trace back to, and what was the toughest lesson you learned there?
Discipline & Consistency: The Habit That Saved My Life
This year, like every year for the past two decades, has been defined by discipline and consistency. But the foundation of this journey was built on absolute devastation.
At 14, I lost my darling mother, and the grief was the most shattering experience of my life. My world collapsed. I coped by eating my feelings and throwing myself into studying. Three years later, I graduated high school with honors, but I was also 100+ pounds heavier. My painful wake-up call came when I couldn't find a single outfit for my own graduation. My self-confidence was gone. That crushing moment at 18 was the turning point. I made a decision to change everything. I hit the gym for the first time.
One year later, all the weight was gone, but the true prize was the skill of consistency that still serves me 20 years later.
At 38, I still show up. My body is evolving, and it thanks me. Life never gets easier, and neither do the tough workouts. But every time I fight through one, I am fiercely reminded: "I can do all things through Christ who is my strength." 💪 If I can get through this workout, I can get through anything and thrive.
When I prayed to God at 18 to take the weight away, He commanded me to start moving. 🙏 I never stopped. Today, I crushed my 219th workout of 2025. I am so incredibly proud of the woman I’ve become: confident, secure, and absolutely grounded in Christ.
I workout not to chase a number, but because: It clears my mind and actively chases away the spirit of depression.
It reminds me I can do all things, especially the hard ones.
It keeps my body strong so that when I am a hundred, I will still dance, walk, and run. Working out saved my life.
It's a strange thing to sit in a meeting with some of the smartest people in the world at companies like Amazon and Microsoft and hear that nagging little voice whispering, "You don't belong here. They're going to figure out you're a fraud." That, my friends, is Imposter Syndrome, and I’ve battled it fiercely. It doesn't matter your background—whether you come from the toughest of circumstances like I did, or from a traditional privileged path—Imposter Syndrome is an equal-opportunity thief of confidence.
For years, I let this self-doubt dim my light. I’d hesitate to speak up, worried my contribution wasn't "good enough." I'd downplay my achievements, fearing that acknowledging them would somehow jinx my good fortune. But slowly, I developed a strategy to fight back. My secret weapon? Proof, not perfection.
I started keeping a "Success Journal"—a simple document where I log every win, every compliment, every challenging project I successfully completed. When the imposter voice starts its monologue, I open that journal and read the evidence. It’s hard to argue with a list of achievements that includes delivering a critical project at ExxonMobil or leading a major initiative at Amazon or Leadership at Microsoft.
Another powerful tactic has been to reframe my self-talk. Instead of thinking, "I don't know everything about this," I now think, "I know enough to get started, and I'm a quick learner." I shifted from focusing on my perceived deficiencies to focusing on my proven capabilities. You deserve to be in the room.
You earned your seat at the table. Don't let a mental trick rob you of the confidence you've rightfully earned through hard work. I want to hear your story. What's your strategy for overcoming self-doubt? Share a tip or a personal experience in the comments! Let's build a toolbox for beating Imposter Syndrome together. #impostersyndrome#confidence#selfdoubt#careeradvice
I’m Joanne Marime, and I proudly say I'm at Level 38. It’s not just an age; it’s a designation of experience, resilience, and wisdom. But just eight years ago, that number felt like a heavy chain.
I arrived in America feeling completely broken, broke, and so downtrodden by life that I was convinced my chapter was closed. I let the thought, "I'm too old, too late," steal my hope and vision.
If you’re currently paralyzed by self-doubt or the calendar, I want to deliver a powerful truth: Your age is not a career deadline; it’s a powerful data point. Every challenge you’ve overcome, every mistake you’ve learned from, is now part of your unique advantage.
I am a living testament to what a potent combination of unwavering faith, tenacious hard work, focused education, and committed discipline can achieve.
As we kick off the final 60 days of 2025, let's make a decision: stop counting the years you’ve lost and start maximizing the days you have left. Sixty days of laser-focus is more than enough time to create tangible movement.
Let’s change the narrative and step into our next level. What’s one belief about yourself you’re ready to reframe today?
Eight years ago, I stepped foot in the United States with nothing but big dreams and a whole lot of uncertainty. I was broke, nervous, and struggling to hide my Kenyan 🇰🇪 accent. My bright orange 🍊 short hair might've been a conversation starter, but it didn't exactly scream "corporate success." I was also suffering from fear of failure from 9 years of career and personal rejections 😢.
The Struggle is Real Imposter syndrome had taken over, whispering doubts in my ear. I felt like the least likely person to succeed. But I was determined to change my story.
The Turning Point
That's when I discovered the power of career coaching. In 2017, I invested in a coach who helped me unlock my potential. It was a game-changer! With their guidance,
I learned to: - Identify my strengths and values - Develop a growth mindset - Create a strategic plan for success
The Results
Fast forward eight years, and I've worked with three of the world's top companies: ExxonMobil, Amazon, and Microsoft. It's been an incredible journey, and I'm proud of how far I've come.
My Advice
If you're feeling stuck, like me eight years ago, here's what I'd say: - Stop doing the same thing expecting different results - Invest in yourself and your career - Find a coach or mentor who believes in you
There’s no better feeling than a weekend that nourishes the soul! My heart is truly full after a glorious weekend focused on Faith, Rest, and R&R. Weekends are precious, and I intentionally filled every moment with the people who matter most: my wonderful family. My two nieces, whom I absolutely adore, were the stars of the show! There is a joy in their laughter and a reciprocal love in their little hugs that just completely fills my cup. We were a whirlwind of adventure and excitement, and it was pure magic.
We started by soaking up the great outdoors with a refreshing hike, followed by a visit to the incredible Balloon Museum. Seeing their faces light up with wonder at the colossal, colorful balloons was a moment I’ll treasure forever. We then cooled off with a much-needed swimming session the perfect way to burn off that extra energy!
The fun didn't stop there! Our fur babies got plenty of playtime and cuddles from their favorite little humans, and we capped off the evening with a cozy family movie night, complete with popcorn and snuggles. The combination of nature, culture, physical activity, and pure downtime was the perfect recipe for bonding.
By the end of the day, we were all gloriously exhausted the kind of tired that come s from a life well-lived and a heart well-loved. Every single shared laugh, every adventure, and every quiet moment of connection was a true blessing. All Glory be to God for these priceless moments.
This is what life is truly about, collecting moments, not things, and investing in the bonds that ground us. I’m already counting down to the next family adventure!
How did you spend your weekend? Let me know in the comments!
