I was very hyped for the new south park episode. The first one I feel was a proper banger and the ensuing reaction was hilarious to watch. This one though? Felt like one of the worst south park episodes in recent memory.

Few things I liked... I like the ongoing plot of Cartman realising he is obsolete in modern society. Both in this and the previous episode he has to wrestle with the fact that he is no longer unique. The world is full of Cartmans, whether copying him for attention or genuinely letting their Cartman side show. What was once a caricature character made to satirize the worst in our society, has now become someone people genuinely like and respect in society (consider Charlie Kirk using Cartman as his profile picture...).

I do like that this episode explores this even more, through Clyde, another highly vapid and sometimes terrible person in the universe of South Park. This episode shows how, a society that promotes terrible behaviour through virality can end up creating Cartmans from people who are on the fence about moral issues, strictly because of economic struggles.

What do I not like? Most of the episode felt as loosely disconnected bits and social commentary. This is fine and it can be done right. Take the deep learning episode from last season, which is in my opinion one of the best one from the past few seasons. You have a nice well written story, plenty of jokes, and a great message about our over reliance on AI. This episode on the other hand tried to shove in as much political jokes as possible without any cohesion and fairly weak message. The ending felt too abrupt and anti climactic. A lot of the jokes were also very weak and overused.

I might make a whole video when the season is over, we will see

So as it turns out you can't share your songs from PlayTube in the comments section. Should I make some other platform to share your work there

The Boys season 4 is out... And it's rather disappointing. I feel like the story has lost its focus and is now really embracing very surface level satire of contemporary problems. I might make a full video when the entire season is out.

One thing I like is the new character Sister Sage. Though her powers don't strictly speaking make sense with what we know about how compound V works. I still think her presence greatly improves the dynamic of the show. One thing I am greatly afraid of is that they will give her a very boring redemption arc, simply because they would be scared about making a woman of colour the main villain. But I have hopes they will let her story continue in the direction it is heading down on.

I finally got the chance to watch Poor Things by Yorgos Lanthimos as here it didn't release until February. A TL;Dr an incredible film that didn't feel at all like a Lanthimos work. Definitely if you haven't seen a Lanthimos film before you should start with this one

Ok first off, I loved the Lobster and Killing of a Sacred Deer (both written and directed by the same person as Poor Things). However, the dialogue always made the character feel a lot more distant and hard to comprehend. I know I am not alone in this as every other essay on these movies is about the dialogue. I understand the point of it from a narrative standpoint - I am sure it's not because the actors were bad at their delivery or that the writer couldn't form a coherent exchange between characters. But, Poor Things really doesn't fit this mould. It was a very pleasant surprise. I think this made the comedy a lot easier to land compared to previous movies of his (as they were definitely dark comedies too). Every few minutes the whole cinema was bursting out laughing. Granted some of the causes of this reaction were one of the characters saying something like "genitalia". Maybe a bit too strong of a reaction.

The movie is gorgeous visually. I like the use of colours to tell the view of Bella. We start with the boring black and white when she is locked inside. She knows very few things about the world. Things are either acceptable or not. Such is the colour palette, such is the world. We see colour for the first time when Bella runs away with her lover. The sky is always coloured as if in an expressionist painting. Vibrant colours. Purple. Yellow. Green. Even the world looks picturesque. Then after her visit to Alexandria the sky and the world get a more realistic colouring. She understands the world fully. Both in its pleasures and in its pains.

Watch Poor things. I think it was on the same level if not better than Beau Is Afraid.
