Hello wine-lover, I am Effi! So in love with wine that I have been studying it and working in the fabulous wine world for almost 10 years now!
I have always been very curious about taste and aromas (I made my first fragrance at the age of 5 using lemon and orange tree leaves…), so I studied Chemistry and quickly became a self-confessed wine-geek. Born in Greece, but left after completing my Bachelor to explore a whole new wine world in Montpellier, France. There I enrolled at one of the world’s leading wine schools, Montpellier SupAgro from where I eventually earned my M.Sc. in Viticulture and Oenology, spending half a year at the affiliated campus in Geisenheim, Germany. Currently based in London, after 2 years in France and Germany, I still miss my baguette and strudel! However, I am making up for it whilst enjoying great wines and writing about them here!
If you enjoy exploring delicious wines, stay around and let's talk about wine-y stuff!

Congratulations Kir-Yianni on your Wine Personalisty Award! One’s life to be so tightly intertwined with their country’s wine culture is not the most common of occasions. But Kir-Yiannis couldn’t be any further from anything remotely common.

I was very lucky to toast the 25th Anniversary of Hatzidakis Winery with Konstantina Chryssou and Ariadne Hatzidakis at a private lunch followed by a glass of wine at Oeno House. Five years have passed since our first tête-à-tête meeting at the legendary winery, where Haridimos and Konstantina created their magic. I was very touched by their invitation and it just goes to show that real and honest connections show an unparalleled power through time. So excited to see the whole family coming together and spread the message of Santorini's vinous potential. Spending time with them was a great gift!
I have openly been a great fan of the Hatzidakis Family Wines for many years; since the birth of our daughter, we always open a bottle of their Familia at family gatherings, their Vinsanto (16 years in barrel) stole the show at our Christmas dinner and when Federica Boffa took the sceptre of Pio Cesare after the unforgettable Pio Boffa passed away, I sent her a bottle of their powerful Skytali.
