Even if you're from IIT, most companies prefer hiring circuital branches (CS, MNC, Electrical) for software roles.



But many non-circuital students aspire to code and pursue a Software Developer role—only a few succeed.



Anay, my batchmate from Mechanical, was one of them, who cracked Amazon SDE Intern.



In his 4th semester, he started learning DSA with a clear mindset. He took a DSA course, mastered the basics, and then dedicated his entire summer to coding.



Despite his efforts, he faced multiple rejections—companies overlooked him due to his non-circuital background. But he didn’t stop. He kept improving, kept pushing forward.



Then came his breakthrough—he got shortlisted for the Amazon SDE role. He prepared rigorously for the interview, battled through self-doubt, and finally, he cracked it.

A balance between technical skills and extracurriculars can open new doors. You can excel in coding while leading a club, or dive into research while exploring music or sports.

There’s no single right path, only the one that fits you best. Some thrive in competitions, others in innovation, and some in leadership roles.

Time management is the biggest challenge, but also the greatest lesson. Prioritizing what matters most allows you to grow without feeling lost in the chaos.

Opportunities at IIT Delhi are limitless, but your time isn’t. Choose wisely, stay focused, and make every experience count.
