THE SCRIPTURES PROJECT

📖 Romans 14:4
"Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand."

👉 A backslider is God’s servant, not ours. Only He can judge and restore.

THE SCRIPTURES PROJECT

👉"No matter how far you've wandered, God's arms are always open to welcome you home."

Luke 15:20–24 (NIV)

20 So he got up and went to his father.
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him.
Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.

23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it.
Let’s have a feast and celebrate.

24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again;
he was lost and is found.’
So they began to celebrate.

Matthew 23:27 (NIV):

"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean."

"Hypocrisy in Christianity is not failing to be perfect — it's pretending to be holy while hiding a heart that refuses to repent. God sees through masks; He blesses the broken, not the fake."

THE SCRIPTURES PROJECT

TITLE: THE BURDEN OF A LEADER

MAIN VERSE:
Matthew 17:24–27 (NIV)
24 After Jesus and his disciples arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma temple tax came to Peter and asked, “Doesn’t your teacher pay the temple tax?”
25 “Yes, he does,” he replied.

When Peter came into the house, Jesus was the first to speak. “What do you think, Simon?” he asked. “From whom do the kings of the earth collect duty and taxes—from their own children or from others?”
26 “From others,” Peter answered.
“Then the children are exempt,” Jesus said to him.
27 “But so that we may not cause offense, go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours.”

REFLECTION:
As a leader, this passage serves as a firm reminder of our responsibility not only to manage our ministry but also to ensure the well-being of our disciples.
Jesus didn’t just provide for Himself—He ensured Peter’s need was met as well. This shows us that true leadership in God’s kingdom is not self-focused but deeply attentive to the needs of those entrusted to us.

LIFE APPLICATION:
If you, as a leader, are neglecting the practical and spiritual situations of your disciples, you are failing in your calling.
Jesus demonstrated that a leader doesn’t ignore the burdens of those following them.
Are you so focused on growing your network or ministry that you have overlooked the financial, emotional, or spiritual struggles of your disciples?
Leadership is not about prestige or expanding influence; it’s about shepherding others as Christ did. You are called to be an example of faith, provision, and care.
If your disciples are struggling in areas you could address but haven’t, consider this a wake-up call. Jesus didn’t wait for Peter to ask for help—He took the initiative.
Are you doing the same for those under your care?
Have you checked on the personal needs of your disciples, or have you left them to struggle alone?
Are you modeling the provision and concern that Jesus showed, or are you only addressing what benefits your leadership goals?

CONCLUSION:
Go beyond just teaching and leading. Actively ensure that your disciples’ spiritual and practical needs are being met.
Pray for them, assist them, and guide them with the same compassion Jesus showed Peter.
A leader who neglects their disciples’ well-being forfeits their authority to lead in God’s kingdom.
Step up and lead with integrity, care, and responsibility.
