This is our bipolar disorder. Our experiences. Our bipolar community. Here at Our Bipolar, we redefine bipolar disorder through personal stories and community.
Welcome in! I’m Jess Curtis, wife, mom, editor, and bipolar advocate.
I’ve had 26 years of experiences living with bipolar: mania, depression, hypomania, mixed episodes, and yes, stability (the holy grail!). I try to talk about all of it to give a fuller picture of life with bipolar.
This channel strives to break stigma, offer support, and promote better understanding of bipolar disorder.

My new video is out! 🤟🏼
Watch as I travel from my home in Pittsburgh to Washington DC and battle lack of sleep for days and a busy work schedule while trying to manage bipolar disorder.
The DC area was my home for 13 years. I visit my old neighborhood and my first home, where Bryan and I got engaged and where we brought Pearson home from the hospital. 🏡👶🏼
Just giving a heads up because the YouTube algorithm isn’t pushing out this video as much as usual since I haven’t been posting as often.
Watch and let me know what you think! This video is definitely made with love. ❤️

At long last, I’ll have a video out today!
It won’t be ready at noon but soon enough. It’s a vlog-style video from my recent solo trip to DC, so it’s taking me a little longer to edit.
Can’t wait to see all of you in the comments section!

Do you believe in manifesting?
I never really believed in it. I’m such a skeptic. But I think I manifested being a guest on this podcast! Coming soon. ❤️

Our Bipolar
My daughter. She is smart, funny, generous, beautiful inside and out. I try to keep her face off of YouTube for her privacy. It’s hard.
Because she is why I’m here. I decided to become a bipolar advocate while pregnant with her.
Without knowing it, she taught me to be proud of living with bipolar. To love myself. What an incredible gift.

Our Bipolar
Truth. I’m just one person out of millions on this planet who have bipolar disorder.
I happen to be open about it as of a few years ago and have a YouTube channel.
I don’t have all the answers. I only have my own life experience and perspective.
This is worthwhile to some people. That’s why I’m open. I didn’t know another soul with bipolar for 20 years after my diagnosis. The silence was deafening.

Our Bipolar
Bipolar doesn’t exist in a vacuum. I wish it did.
We thought we were going on a little getaway, but there's no getting away from your life.
Our first day away we found out about a death on Bryan’s side. He was in his 30s. Such a kind soul. Tragic.
Then we had to drive Pearson to Children's Hospital. It turned out to be relatively minor—the best case scenario since the doctors suspected appendicitis and emergency surgery.
The pictures show a beautiful, worry-free trip.
In truth it was sad and difficult but also beautiful.
I’m still stable but only a few weeks out of depression. As someone with bipolar, my thought process with everything going on goes like this:
Will I slip back into depression? Will I rebound into hypomania? Will I get lucky and stay stable?
Then the dreaded thought: Why am I thinking about myself??
But I know the answer. I have to be there for my family. My daughter and husband are going through struggles. I need to be healthy. I’ll do my best.
