Emerald Tree Boa (Corallus caninus)🐍❤️
• Scientific Name: Corallus caninus
• Common Name: Northern Emerald Tree Boa
• Native Range: Northern South America - Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, Colombia, northern Brazil
• Habitat: Tropical rainforests; strictly arboreal, found in tree canopies near rivers
• Size: 5-6.5 feet (females larger)
• Lifespan: 15-25 years in captivity
• Color: Bright emerald green with white or yellow dorsal markings
• Babies hatch red, orange, or yellow and turn green over time (ontogenetic color change)
‼️FUN FACTS ‼️
• Uses heat-sensing pits to detect prey
• Often confused with Corallus batesii (southern emerald), but C. caninus usually has more angular markings and stays slightly smaller
• Despite their beauty, they're not ideal for beginners due to temperament and environmental needs.
