We often chase after youth and flawless beauty, fearing wrinkles, gray hair, and aging skin. But what if we shifted our perspective?
This is a portrait I painted of a 96-year-old grandma. Her skin carries black spots and deep wrinkles. Her teeth are black, not from decay, but from an old Vietnamese tradition—black teeth were once a symbol of beauty and elegance. Her hair is white and thin, her hands rough and veined. And yet, to me, she is stunning.
Every wrinkle tells a story. Every sunspot speaks of a life lived under the sun—working, loving, caring. Her hands have carried children, cooked countless meals, and held generations. She’s lived nearly a century, and it shows—in the most beautiful way.
We can’t stop the passage of time, but we can choose how we see it. Aging is not something to fear or hide. It’s a testament to strength, resilience, and the quiet beauty of a life well lived.
Let’s celebrate the kind of beauty that doesn't fade—but grows deeper with time.
