I’m a professional freelance violinist and violist sharing practical insight into violin and viola playing, accessories and technique.
My videos focus on string player product reviews and tutorials/demonstrations of chopping; a groove-based, rhythmic and percussive string technique used across classical and contemporary styles.
My content is for violinists, violists and string players, amateur or professional, who want to expand their sound, understand their equipment, and apply modern rhythmic techniques to their playing.

Probably my most requested video since my content creation journey started.

5 rules of the violin chop in 5 mins.

Let me know which rule surprised you the most? If I had to guess, I'd say #3. People don't realise it's VITAL to get a proper chopping sound.

A world first violin travel bow!
There is literally nothing else like it out there. It really does solve a very prevalent issue for violinists who travel abroad and get totally done over by airline staff. We've seen violin travel cases already, but the bow has always been an issue. Until now!

Let me know if you've ever had a problem flying with your instrument and if a travel bow would be a genuine solution?

8 years is a long time to be away from YouTube!

My triumphant return to long-form is a look at my Viola Case Essentials. I suddenly had the urge to film a video but my violin was at the doctors so the viola was called up for duty!

Here’s the link, if you missed it:

I’m truly excited to start sharing more long-form content with you all again. I’ve already recorded my next video 😎

Bear with me while I figure out my individual style and get to grips with my new lighting and camera gear. It’s actually much harder than I remember to record proper YouTube videos.

If you’ve been here from the beginning, please say hi!
