PEPA ALTERNATE UNIVERSE SONG DESIGN 🌧️⚡️

In this AU design I wanted Pepa’s beautiful curly hair to be let down instead of remain tied up as it contributes to the message in her song of Pepa letting loose and being uncontrollable. I thought it would be super cool to have a blonde skunk stripe in her hair for a Marvel Rogue-esque look that looks like she’s been struck by lightening! The frilly neckline of her original dress was kept for familiarity but adapted into much longer versions that drape downwards which brings a sad effect to her AU outfit and rills heavily inspired by pollera dresses were added to the bottom half of her dress.
As Pepa is usually seen with a stormy cloud above her head that brings lightning or rains down on her as part of the physical manifestation of her powers in Encanto, having these elements in her outfit were crucial. The idea was to keep some sort of yellow color present in alignment with her original design and a slightly deeper yellow was used as it isn’t as vibrant which fits the mood of her song. The imagery of thunder and stormy clouds are also heavily present throughout her dress with clouds and lightening bolts shaping the neckline as stormy clouds with lightening elements from below merge upwards into the darkness of her ombre dress. Chrysós added some raindrop earrings as a contrast to her original sun-shaped earrings and a matching cloud-shaped necklace with rain droplets dangling down from it to complete her jewellery set. All of these elements support in drawing focus to the negative emotions that Pepa feels and I sing about in her song. I hope this gave you guys more insight into how her design came to be! 🌩️
